Pre-Race Jitters!

5 More Days until I no longer a Half-Marathon virgin! Is that weird to say?  I am getting a little nervous for my race this weekend. Even thought I had a crazy memorial day weekend at the wedding with all my friends, I still managed to get my training runs in. I did 5 miles on Saturday, which was rough!! I was scheduled to run for 50 minutes and I did my run when I got back from Philly on Saturday before boyf and I headed to downtown DC for the weekend.   I started around 2:00 and I am used to running in the evening and it was so hot this weekend, I was DYING! It was so hard doing the hills that I usually do in 80+ heat. I was seriously struggling. You think you are in shape, but then a heat wave comes through and it totally knocks you back down! Boyf biked next to me the entire time, so that kept me going. He was such a trooper! It was a rough time though. I am glad the half marathon starts so early. I hope its not too hot!  Race starts at 7:00am so hopefully that will work in my favor weather-wise!

I also got up on Sunday morning in the hotel and went to the gym and a 30 minute run. I was pretty proud of myself because most of my friends were hung over/lying in bed and I was working off the calories! It has felt pretty good to stick to the program.

I did another 30 minute easy run today, since I am now in the taper zone. I am totally feeling the mental-doubt right about now though. Like I didn’t do enough to prepare. Like I should be doing more these last few days before the race. Will I be able to finish? Will I struggle those last 3 miles? I just have to keep telling myself that I just completed 12 miles a week ago with a good time. I have come so far with my running progress these past few months. I can do this.

I can do this.
