My First Facial

Can you believe I have never had a facial before? 25 years young and no facial? I have had lots of spa treatments before, but I always opt for a massage or a wrap or something. I always felt you get more bang for your buck that way, but I think I may have been wrong.

I went to one of my favorite places in downtown DC, the Aveda Institute. I go there all the time to get my hair done, and they have loads of other treatments. Since it is being done by ‘students’ who are still learning how to do the treatments, its SUPER cheap. But the whole thing is supervised by a professional, so I never once have felt scared I was going to come out looking mangled. moving 083

I got the Elemental Nature Facial for Self-Renewal. It was a head-to-toe experience designed for total relaxation and skin rejuvenation. Sounds good, right? I got my skin analyzed and they put on two different masks specifically for my skin type. I got a scalp and foot treatment as well. I loved the steamer that opened up my pores. That was heavenly. I have to get me one of those!

The whole treatment lasted over an hour and a half.  Total pampering. I literally fell asleep at one point, and I never do that, just goes to show you how seriously relaxed I was. moving 084 And yes, in case you are wondering, I am the freak who asks the student giving me a facial to take a picture of me. She was mildly confused, but did it anyways. She told me she had never had a request to take someone’s picture during a facial before. I am THAT girl, but hey, I did it for the blog! Blog love!!

I came home to a lovely little card from my friend Kate. She is the other Conshohocken roommate who is going to see Britney with me! Woohoo! I love this card, its SO me and Kate! Thanks Kate!

Green Monster Tragedy and Congratulations

Today, I got up and made my green monster as usual. Standard Igngredients: 3-4 cups spinach, 1 cup almond milk, 1 banana and my mix of chia seeds, flax seeds and wheatberries. YUM! Definately my favorite way to start the day is with a green monster in hand. Check out Angela’s Green Monster Movement Shirts. I love them!

The tragic part about my green monster morning ritual was that my blender took a turn for the worse. I knew he was on his last legs, but today might be his last day in working order. I noticed a green dripping coming from the bottom of the blender when I washed it every day. It is seriously leaking. Half my monster comes out the bottom before I am able to pour it into a glass.

Tear. Look how gross that is! My blender is bleending green monster! YUCK! I don’t really think I can use it anymore. It is as old as the hills, but it had a good fulfilling life. It did the job every morning up until now, so I am ok with that. Luckily, my parents got me a brand new blender for my birthday! Woohoo! I haven’t busted it out yet, as I am saving it for my ‘offical’ move up to Philly next week (7 days, but whose counting?!).

Also, I have to give a huge Congratulations Shout out to my friend Jill and her fiance A.J.! They got engaged last night (on his birthday!) and I am so happy for both of them. They are my two lawyerly friends, and Jill and I lived together in Conshohocken last year. It was so much fun! Roommate love! She is also one of the people I stalked into going to the Britney concert with me in Philadelphia in August! We are going to have so much fun. And Jill, we shall celebrate your engagement when I get up there next week! Check out the rock – A.J. did awesome!
