Can you believe I have never had a facial before? 25 years young and no facial? I have had lots of spa treatments before, but I always opt for a massage or a wrap or something. I always felt you get more bang for your buck that way, but I think I may have been wrong.
I went to one of my favorite places in downtown DC, the Aveda Institute. I go there all the time to get my hair done, and they have loads of other treatments. Since it is being done by ‘students’ who are still learning how to do the treatments, its SUPER cheap. But the whole thing is supervised by a professional, so I never once have felt scared I was going to come out looking mangled.
I got the Elemental Nature Facial for Self-Renewal. It was a head-to-toe experience designed for total relaxation and skin rejuvenation. Sounds good, right? I got my skin analyzed and they put on two different masks specifically for my skin type. I got a scalp and foot treatment as well. I loved the steamer that opened up my pores. That was heavenly. I have to get me one of those!
The whole treatment lasted over an hour and a half. Total pampering. I literally fell asleep at one point, and I never do that, just goes to show you how seriously relaxed I was. And yes, in case you are wondering, I am the freak who asks the student giving me a facial to take a picture of me. She was mildly confused, but did it anyways. She told me she had never had a request to take someone’s picture during a facial before. I am THAT girl, but hey, I did it for the blog! Blog love!!
I came home to a lovely little card from my friend Kate. She is the other Conshohocken roommate who is going to see Britney with me! Woohoo! I love this card, its SO me and Kate! Thanks Kate!
More later. Back to packing/organizing/SoYouThinkYouCanDance. Busy night!

Facials are nice and relaxing! Glad you enjoyed it. Too funny about getting the picture taken.
I'm going to be 25 on Monday, and I have never had a facial (or a massage!) I would love the opportunity to try both sometime! Glad you enjoyed your facial.
I got a facial from a "student" at an institute in MD and loved it.
And I love that you got the student to snap a pic. There have been many times where I wished I would have taken a picture of something for the blog. kudos to you!
