Jackson is Going Green

Today I switched things up a bit and had some green monster love in the afternoon with my lunch. It was nice to have it mid day, and I have become so used to drinking them first thing in the morning it was something I looked forward to. Here is my afternoon green monster in all its glory:blog 025

I used 3-4 cups baby spinach, 1 banana, 1 cup almond milk, chia seeds, flax seeds, wheat berries and 1 serving of chocolate whey

Just a few pre-blend pictures. Pretty, right?

Letting the blender work its magic.

How gorgeous is that?

That nice big juicy strawberry makes the green monster POP!

There was some serious yum going on in this glass. I feel like I need to shake things up in my green monster world. I have the same one everyday, and while I still love it, I feel like there is a whole world of green monster ingredient options out there. I should experience other recipes.

Any suggestions for YOUR favorite green monster?

With my fabulous GM, I made a colorful wrap for lunch. In this creation from the bottom up was: spinach, buffalo chicken, pepper jack cheese, Lightlife pepperoni, and some shredded carrots

I popped this bad boy in my toaster over, which I am madly in love with by the way, and away it went…

I love it when the ends of the wrap are crunchy. That’ to me is toaster oven perfection!

All together now.

Jackson was eyeing up my green monster. Maybe I need to find a way to make him a puppy friendly version of it! That would be fun. Any thoughts?

Jackson seriously wanted it bad! You can see he has that look in his eye. Such a great picture of him and my green monster. I love it.

Check out these awesome Stand Up And Eat Plates! I love them.

Lisa pointed me out to this – Victoria’s Secret Major League Baseball Sweatshirts. I love the Phillies one, but $54 dollars is a lot for a sweatshirt. Thoughts?

Nothing But The Essentials

Yesterday I went to BJ’s Wholesale Club and I picked up a few of the essentials for super cheap. I will be getting my everyday essentials from BJ’s from now on for sure. Check out my loot:Brinkley Pictures 010

I got 3 pounds of bananas, 2 pounds of strawberries, 24 ounces of spinach and like 20 whole grain wraps for about $14 bucks. I don’t know about you, but where I come that’s pretty cheap. These should hold me over in green monster world for a while!

What are your food necessities? What can you never go without in your kitchen? I need my daily green monsters for sure!

I also stopped by Trader Joes and picked up a few other things. My favorite thing I picked up was Peanut Butter Filled Pretzels. YUMM!

These things are my idea of heaven. It is quite dangerous to have them around the house! I doubt they will make it to the weekend. What’s your favorite Trader Joe essential?

Oats Envy

This morning for breakfast I popped open a new box of Country Choice Organic Multi Grain Rye, Barley, Oats and Wheat. I know the oats are going to be good when I snack on them a bit raw while I am making them. Does anyone else do that?

blog 021

My oat issue is this: I can never make them right. I use the portion suggested – 1 cup water and 1/2 cup oats, I heat them up in the microwave and it is ALWAYS either half cooked, or there wasn’t enough water and they are dry. This batch was sort of half cooked. blog 001

I have been on the yogurt train for a while now because every time I try oats, I get discouraged that I can’t make them just right. Aren’t they supposed to be more mushy? Do you see how you can still see the oats, and they aren’t fully cooked?blog 002

I totally have Oats Envy because Rose always makes such beautiful oatmeal creations every morning, and they look so amazing and tasty. Am I using the wrong things? To this I added strawberries (obviously), some chia seeds and some peanut butter. I know you can pretty much add anything you enjoy to oats, but am I making them wrong? Using the wrong things? I always just feel they look so much better in other people’s pictures than when I make them myself, they don’t live up to my taste expectations.

 blog 003

On a non-oats issue, check out what I got from Target yesterday. Its a ladder bookcase/shelf from the Target Hudson collection. I saw something similar from Crate and Barrel a while ago and loved it, but it was too pricey. It was like 1/3 of the price at Tarjay~! Win! I brought it home late last night and wanted to put it together asap, but boyf wasn’t very excited about doing that. He was a trooper and put it together for me anyways! What a guy.  Thanks boyf!

I have been rearranging the living room area all morning trying to find a spot for this thing, but I am not sure where it belongs. Cute though, right? We have high ceilings and still need to put stuff on the walls to decorate, which is why I liked how high this piece is.

Below the picture is from the target website. My ladder shelf comes with a matching desk , which I would really love to do my computer work on, but I don’t think we have room for it with the way we have things set up now. So cute!

I hope everyone has a happy Wednesday!
