Live with the Memories

Yesterday I took a day off from blogging. Boyf’s aunt passed away last week and Friday was the viewing and Saturday was the funeral. His aunt had stage 4 lung cancer, and everything happened very fast. It is such a sad story because his aunt and uncle had been together since they were like 14 years old. Can you believe that? High school and college sweethearts, went to each other’s proms, the works. They met at the Starlight Ballroom in Wildwood and have been together ever since. Got married when they were 21 and the rest is history. Boyf’s cousins were telling me that they were the kind of couple, that after close to 40 years of marriage, they still talked on the phone to each other all the time throughout the day. Always interested in how they other was doing, keeping the lines of communication open. I really don’t know of any true love stories like that in this day and age. You just don’t hear to many stories like that anymore. Such a sweet story, but I feel so bad for boyf’s uncle who lost his love, his heart, his soul. They had 3 sons and each son and the husband got up at the funeral and gave a speech/told a story about their mother. It was just so sad. I had a hard time looking at any of the direct family members by the end of the night. They just had so much hurt and loss in their eyes. I feel so bad for them. My thoughts and prayers are with the family members as they learn to live with the memories of her.

The bright part of the day was that I got to spend the weekend with boyf’s rather large family. I love them, and we rarely get to see everyone except for at holidays, weddings and sadly funerals. I am not sure if I mentioned this on the blog before, but he is one of close to 20 cousins. I don’t have ANY cousins, so his family is the complete opposite of mine. It’s nice to hang out with them, they are all pretty young and enjoy having a good time. It wasn’t really a time or place for pictures, so I don’t have any from the weekend, but I enjoyed good food and drink with amazing company. I just wish it was under different circumstances.
