NYC Half Marathon in the Morning

About to head to bed for the big race in the morning! I am super tired after my long day of walking around the big apple, and want to make sure I wake up tomorrow feeling fresh and fabulous! I wanted to share with everyone a map of the race route tomorrow. It’s pretty exciting. We make a big loop around Central Park, head down to Times Square and then high tail it all the way down to Battery Park!

Check it out here:

I am running with my phone so hit me up on twitter @lmcder01 or @jacksonsworld1 if you are up! The race starts at 7:00 am. If you are also interested in following me for the race, I am bib @ 6532. You can get race updated emailed to you from here. Check it out, its pretty cool!

Other than that, have a fabulous rest of your weekend. You can expect a full race recap tomorrow evening! Wish me luck!! 🙂

Exploring the City

Greetings! Today Kate Monster and I took on NYC! We walked all over the place – shopping, eating, sightseeing! It was a busy day. We started off exploring Grand Central. I had never been in it before, it was pretty cool. NYC Half 060

Do you see the discolored brick in this picture? That is what the ceiling looked like before 1990 when Grand Central underwent through that whole renovation. It would still look like that now if they never redid it. Crazy, right?

NYC Half 062

It’s all so beautiful! Just think of all the fabulous movies that have been filmed here.

I snacked on a Balance Bar while we walked around.

At Grand Central we had some fun at the Whispering Wall.

NYC Half 067

You whisper secrets in the wall from one side, and on the other side, you can hear it from the other side of the room. Pretty cool, right?

Next up on the agenda was lunch! We hit up Republic for lunch. I love their slogan – Think Noodles!  It is a swanky noodle bar by Grand Central. KM and I started off with some yummy drinks. She got the ginger green tea and I got the watermelon juice. It was so good. I can’t wait to juice watermelon at home!

I got the vegetable pad Thai. It was so yummy.

NYC Half 074

We then had to walk off lunch a little bit so we headed down the street to the farmer’s market. It was so sunny and beautiful out (aside from the scorching heat!) Check out these beautiful flowers. I wanted to buy them all!

NYC Half 076

There was a whole section of fresh teas and spices. I haven’t seen anything like that before at a farmer’s market!

NYC Half 081

There was also some great herbs I wanted to get, if I didn’t have to haul it back to Philly with me tomorrow. Check out what I found: Wheatgrass and Chocolate Mint!

It was such a busy day. We walked around all day, and headed back to rest up for the big race tomorrow! I promptly made an Amazing Grass Amazing Chocolate Infused Meal when I walked in the door. I needed some vitamins and nutrients hardcore! It it defiantly something you have to get used to the taste of, but I liked it.

It was yummy. I needed that hit of chocolate!

For dinner I made a fabulous vegetable wrap. It was JUST what I needed. It was a spinach wrap with more spinach, carrots, yellow pepper, avocado, cucumbers and some cheese

NYC Half 091

It was so good!

KM are currently watching Bride Wars and then we are going to hit the hay! I am super tired and want to be all rested up and ready for the big race tomorrow!

The Glamorous Life

Last night Kate Monster and I went out for dinner and drinks. It was VERY New York City! First we started out at the Hotel Gansevort in the meatpacking district. I had never been down there before, so I was excited to explore another part of the city. In the Hotel Gansevort there is this awesome rooftop bar called Plunge. It was all open aired and fabulous! The lights were all pink lights, which you all know I enjoyed, and everything was just very swanky! We started off with some signature cocktails. I got a Pink Kiss and KM got a Grapefruit Cosmo. Both were quite tasty!

I heart rooftop bars! It was such a beautiful night for outside drinks last night too. Yay summer!

NYC Half 043

We were right across the street from the Soho Club, ANOTHER SATC reference. KM tried to get us passes to get in, but it was just as exclusive in real life as it was in SATC. People were out partying at the rooftop pool there too!

NYC Half 044

This is a view of the West Side Highway and the Hudson. We will be running down here tomorrow!

NYC Half 046

Here we are with our drinks.

Next up on the list was dinner. KM had picked out a fabulous Italian restaurant for us to dine at called Barolo.

NYC Half 058

We sat down and ordered two glasses of Pinot. Check out the awesome water fall behind me!

NYC Half 050

We sat outside in a garden. It was very romantical.

 NYC Half 051

I ordered the Penne a la vodka with asparagus. It. Was. Amazing. I have about half leftover from last night. I am currently thinking about eating some for breakfast right now.

NYC Half 053

KM got the Risotto which came with the special wine sauce and grapes. It was amazing as well.

NYC Half 054

Cheers to fabulous times with fabulous friends in fabulous NYC!

A Run Around the Reservoir

I got up to NYC yesterday pretty easily. I am always happy about stress-free travel! Got to love that! I was so happy to see kate monster (name changed for privacy purposes, if you have seen Avenue Q you get the reference!) It has been FOREVER since we have seen each other. Ok, last time we saw each other was my birthday weekend, but it was FOREVER before that too. When I arrived at her new apartment, she had some fabulous sunflowers waiting for me.

NYC Half 009

Kate Monster and I chit-chatted for a little bit and watched some Oprah (ps, did anyone see Oprah yesterday? It was a GOOD one! All about how men and women are attracted to each other and how we pick our mates. Fascinating!) Anywho, I made myself a little grilled cheese with avocado because KM had plans for us to do a little running action.

NYC Half 006

She lives right next to Central Park, and for 6 or 7 miles of the race tomorrow, we are actually running around Central Park. KM wanted to show me some of the hills we would be doing so I would be prepared. I tested out my new Nathan Quickdraw water bottle during the run (review to come!), but I love the pocket on the side!

 NYC Half 027NYC Half 034

KM has a Road ID too! Yay for spreading the safety while running love! I love the purple color. So snazzy!

NYC Half 036

Here we are post run enjoying a leisurely stroll around the reservoir

 NYC Half 038

You got to love the great views!

NYC Half 029 NYC Half 030

This is where Charlotte goes running in Sex and the City! I had to do a test run pretending to be her! Here is a little bit of Leslie trivia – Charlotte is my favorite SATC character, who is yours??

NYC Half 031

Ok, in this picture, I am just being silly – but look at that fabulous form! Hahaha!

 NYC Half 032

The whole point of our little 3 mile run yesterday, other than for me to meet some of the hills for the race on Sunday, was to pick up our NYC Half Marathon race packet! I love picking up race packets! Is it bad that part of me loves going to the running expo’s (and getting medals) more than the actual race part sometimes?? 🙂

Here is our loot. I was pretty disappointed with the bag. This whole Half Marathon was sponsored by Nike last year, and was supposed to be sponsored by Nike this year too. But Nike backed out last minute. There was supposed to be a huge expo and all this other fun stuff going on, but not anymore. There was no expo, we just picked up our bag and left. I am upset because this is the NYC Half Marathon baby! It’s supposed to be a festive event, right?

Supposed Supposed Supposed! Ok, enough whining, in our packet, we got our racing bib and chip (GO #6532!!!!) some Newman’s Own popcorn, chap stick, an Energy Kitchen coupon, and some pretzels that all went in the blue bag.

NYC Half 010

I do like the shirt. It’s one of those really lightweight racing material shirts. Short sleeved but I enjoy the grey color. It’s pretty cute.

NYC Half 012

And here are the back of the shirts. Standard.

NYC Half 011

Tear I wish Nike was still sponsoring. <Sniff Sniff>
