I Want More Race Medals!

I officially hung up my NYC Half Marathon medal in the “race corner” of my room. I clip all my bibs together, and as you can see, I have my 2 finisher medals out for all the world to see. Other than my recent medal addition this pile of bibs include: Broad Street Medal (check!), Zooma Annapolis necklace (in my jewelry drawer, check!) NYRR Snowflake 5K (check!), NYRR Holiday 4 Mile (check!) and a few other random ones. I love collecting my racing bibs!

I was most definitely in need of a little foam rolling action. Jackson wanted in on the fun too! I took today and yesterday off and will start back up slow tomorrow. I may stay away from running this week if I can stand it, but I wanted to give my body a rest. I plan on doing a Shred workout or hitting up the elliptical at the gym or maybe going for a bike ride. Proper recovery post races is muy importante!

I also picked up Jillian Michaels book Making the Cut: The 30-Day Diet and Fitness Plan for the Strongest, Sexiest You’>Making the Cut this weekend in NYC at a used bookstore. I got this bad boy for $7.00, hardcover! Score! I want to read it and maybe put her 30-day plan into effect. I shall let you know my thoughts as I read! I am also reading Autobiography of a Face’>Autobiography of a Face by Lucy Grealy. It’s pretty good so far, its about a young girl who was diagnosed with potentially terminal cancer and had to have part of her jaw removed at nine years old. It’s a pretty engaging book.

Also, check out my loot from kate monster from this weekend! I am in Matrix heaven! KM has a glamorous job in the big apple and was able to hook me up with some fabulous L’Oreal products! Yay for my hair! Thanks KM! You are the best!

Flax Matters Giveaway!

I received a fabulous package from Flax Matters 2 weeks ago and have been using lots of flax ever since! I have made pancakes, and smoothies, and green monsters with all the flax. It has been a great addition to my diet. I love adding it to everything I can!

Fabulous Facts about Flax

  • Cultivated since ancient times as a source of food or fiber
  • The plant grows to be about 3 feet high, has small blue flowers and thrives in cold, northern climates
  • Each flower produces 7 to 10 flaxseeds, which are slightly larger than sesame seeds, with hard, shiny husks that range in color from amber to reddish brown
  • Milling or grinding flaxseed is the best way to tap into all of its nutritional benefits
  • Studies have shown that these powerful antioxidants may reduce the risk of hormone-sensitive cancers such as breast and prostate cancer
