Spiralizing Up A Storm with Raw Zucchini Pasta

I have been hearing things about spiralizers all over the place, and decided to take the plunge and order one for myself. I ordered mine from Ultimate Nourishment and it arrived the other day. I was so excited! I got the Metro Garnisher – Saladacco 1645. I was pretty confused when I first started researching these, because I didn’t want to use it to garnish anything, I wanted to use it to make zucchini pasta and other things of that nature. This claimed it did just that, among other things, and for $19.95, I figured it was worth a try!

The only complaint I have with this is that it didn’t come with any real directions. I had no idea what I was doing. I still don’t know if I am doing it right! The device is pretty small, which I was surprised about at first. It’s probably good its small because boyf might literally kill me dead if I bring another appliance into the kitchen! The zucchini was bigger than the spiralizer!

Laurel Hill Marketplace 126I cut the zucchini in 2 section, and put it in the spiralizer, and just started twisting the top. I didn’t know if it was going to work at first, but then I looked into the bottom and it was spiralizing up a storm!

These were my first couple attempts, and it looked weird to me, but it was doing its job!

I left the skin on. Not sure if I should have peeled it or not, but it was fine for me with it on.  Laurel Hill Marketplace 132

There are two different settings. You can do strands, which are pictured above, or you can do ribbons, pictured below. I experimented with both, but I think I like eating the strands best. It gives it  more the feeling like you are eating pasta.

I heated up some leftover pasta sauce. I had a hard time deciding if I wanted to use white or red sauce with this. I went with red, because that’s what I had, but I really think it will be good with either.

This bowl spiralized one WHOLE zucchini! Think of all the fabulous nutrients and vitamins in this bowl! Yum Yum!

So tasty! I mixed it all together in a bowl and it was good to go! It was kind of weird at first because the zucchini was cold and the sauce was hot. All together it wasn’t as hot as normal pasta, but it was really good! I can’t wait to make it again!

Laurel Hill Marketplace 137After my order, I got a coupon code for 5% off an order from Ultimate Nourishment. If you are interested in getting anything from the site, let me know!  Leave a comment and I will give you the code!

Happy Spiralizing!

I'm getting married next year and we started our registry at amazon.com and I definitely registered for a spiralizer. Too bad I have to wait until next spring for it!

I have never seen that gadget before! I think I'm sold… being a vegetarian, I love new ways to eat vegetables! Your zucchini pasta sounds fabulous.

Hi, your zucchini 'noodles' look so tasty. I have been researching spiralizers and I think I will purchase the same one you have. So if the code is still valid I would like it please. Also I found online directions for the product (although you seem to get the hang of it already):

LittleBuggie:The coupon code for 5% off is VIPCUSTOMER, which you would enter in the "E-Mail Redemption Code" field during checkout. The "E-Mail Redemption Code" field is under the shipping selection and payment selection fields on the *2nd* step of checkout.
