Pumpkin Cupcake

After my 5K race this morning, I came home and wanted to relax a bit with boyf, but I didn’t get to sit down for too long before we were taking our bikes out on West River Drive. Since boyf got his bike a few weeks ago, he always wants to go for a bike ride which is great! I love going out for rides down to the city and exploring Fairmount Park. It’s so much fun, and it was such a beautiful day out for a bike ride.

West River Drive was absolutely stunning today.  September 2009 1095

We stopped along the way to take some pictures. Here I am with the city and the Art Museum in the background.

 September 2009 1096September 2009 1104

We are so hardcore with our bikes! (haha..not really!!)

Isn’t the Art Museum so pretty on the water?

September 2009 1106

I got a little picture happy today because it was so gorgeous out, so boyf was taking silly pictures of me!

September 2009 1107 September 2009 1108

I took boyf down to where I got to classes everyday and then we headed over to the Eastern State Penitentiary area. We biked around the prison. Check out the massive walls!

September 2009 1110

This sad little tree was growing through the prison walls.

September 2009 1112 September 2009 1113

It would have been pretty cool to see this massive prison in operating condition back in the day. Now it is a historical site and there are tours all day (and its a Haunted House!). It’s a pretty cool piece of Philadelphia history!

September 2009 1111

After biking for a while we decided to take a pit stop at Mugshots. Boyf wanted to see where I meet RhodeyGirl every week for lunch. He wanted to know what all the fuss was about!

When we got there I knew I wanted something Pumpkin! I decided to treat myself to the Pumpkin Spiced Cupcake.

September 2009 1115

Is your mouth-watering yet? My mouth is watering just reliving the few moments that this cupcake was with us. It was beyond delicious.

September 2009 1116

I wish when I ask boyf to take a picture of me, he would look at where he was shooting the camera!

September 2009 1119

That’s a little better. We need to work on boyf’s photography skills.

September 2009 1117

And with my Pumpkin Cupcake I had a Pumpkin Spiced Latte. Fall is in the air my friends! Get this seasonal stuff while it lasts! I actually got the LAST Pumpkin Spiced Latte today. After they made mine, they ran out of the flavoring. It was written in the stars for me to have this pumpkin snack today!

September 2009 1118

Oh yeah. Right there. That’s the good stuff. MmMmMm!

September 2009 1122

Before we took off on our little bike ride today, boyf and I packed some bars to snack on. I was in my Pumpkin Zone, as you can see from above, but boyf decided to snack on a GNU Flavor and Fiber bar with his coffee.

September 2009 1123

He had the Orange Cranberry bar and said it was very orange-y. At first he really like the flavor, but by the last bite, he said it was too much for him. He really likes the GNU bars though!

September 2009 1124

We biked a little over 11 miles today. It was a nice little workout, and we seriously couldn’t have asked for a better day. So with the 11 mile bike ride combined with my 5K race this morning, I say I deserve a little day off tomorrow! I am looking forward to getting some work and studying in and just relaxing!

For dinner I didn’t want to make anything so I decided to order Thai takeout. I ordered the Vegetable Pad Thai, but when I got home it was Chicken. I hate when that happens. I ate about 1/4 of it and was full. Portion sizes in this world are out of control! At least I have leftovers for tomorrow!

September 2009 1125

I love Thai food, but I always end up ordering the same damn thing (pictured above). Anyone have any Thai food suggestions? I need to spice up my ordering and switch things up a bit!

Happy Saturday Night to All!

Main Line 5K Race Recap

Early morning wake up call today for my Main Line 5K  race. I hate waking up early for work and school, but it doesn’t bother me so much when I am waking up for running fun! September 2009 1087

Last night I enjoyed some POM Wonderful while boyf and I relaxed and watched Mad Men. I wish I got to bed a little earlier than I did, but Mad Men is so addicting! The POM was nutritious and delicious – full of healthiness!

September 2009 1058 September 2009 1059

This morning I woke up and toasted 2 pieces of bread but I only ended up eating one. I knew I was hungry and needed the fuel, but sometimes its so hard to get myself to eat a good pre-race meal so early in the morning! I ate the one with PB and bananas.

 September 2009 1060

I also made myself a mini green monster. I cut my ingredient portions in half because I knew I wouldn’t be able to drink a whole green monster, but I wanted the vitamins and minerals! Jackson was checking me out with a watchful eye wondering why I was up so early on a weekend!

 September 2009 1063 September 2009 1064

For my fuel I brought with me some ZYM which I received in the mail a few days ago and I put my Clif shot blocks in my Nathan hydration pack, just in case I wanted one.

September 2009 1062

Here I am, all ready to hit the road.I wore my skirt goddess running skirt, my Gracie’s gear sports bra, my Road ID, my Zensah running sleeves and my Garmin.  I went by myself today, which was fine. The race was going to be short and quick anyways and boyf wanted to sleep in, which I totally understand.

September 2009 1065 September 2009 1066

I added my ZYM tablet to my water and was ready to hit the road. It’s an electrolyte fuel and the berry flavor was quite tasty!

September 2009 1067 September 2009 1069

It’s so crazy going from a 15,000+ (NYC Half) and a 26,000+(Broad Street Run) person race to a 600+ person race. I liked it a lot. It had a way more intimate feel. I didn’t have to wait for 30 minutes to go to the bathroom, I wasn’t being trampled over while running, it was spacious and nice. I liked it.

September 2009

The race was really quick. The race went down Lancaster Ave (Rt 30) and down through some residential areas through to the Valley Forge Military Academy and back. There were two fairly massive hills, which I did not enjoy, but I did it.

I did very well – A new PR! Here are my stats:

Mile 1 – 7:08    Mile 2: 8:14    Mile 3: 7:53    Mile .10: 0.43

23.58! Woohoo! I came  home  and Jackson and boyf were still in bed. I woke both of them up, took them outside and took some victory pictures!

 September 2009 1077 September 2009 1075

After the run I grabbed some amazing bread from Great Harvest Bread Co. that had a little booth at the post race party.

September 2009 1088

After the race I got one of the best race packets ever! Check out all the swag I got. I love the race shirts. Its a Brooks performance shirt. I also got 2 pocket sized Advil, 2 Chapsticks, some food, Great Harvet Bread Co. coupons, water bottle, reusable shopping bag, gloves ( the second pair is for boyf!) and some other good stuff.

September 2009 1082

I also picked Jackson up a little football. He has been playing with it all morning since I gave it to him! I got to bring presents back for my New Jersey boys! (boyf and Jackson are both from Jersey!)

September 2009 1085September 2009 1084

Here is the back of the shirt and my race bib again. There were so many great sponsors! I had a great time at the race and look forward to my next 5K in a few weeks!

September 2009 1086

Good luck to all the other runners who are racing today!

Last Minute 5K

Today I registered last minute for the Main Line 5K tomorrow morning. I was stalking Running in the USA.com and Runners World.com for races in the area and there are SO MANY fabulous races coming up, right in my backyard! I totally need to take advantage of them. I pretty much run alone everyday, so it’s nice to be around other runners sometimes. And obviously the more I run at ‘race pace,’ the better! I also have a soft spot in my heart for race bibs and race shirts!

I am excited! I went today and registered in person, picked up my shirt and checked out where I am supposed to be tomorrow. I know the weekends are usually my sleep in days, but I am looking forward to getting up bright and early tomorrow for the race!

Below is the course. I am happy when courses go in loops. I HATE when courses go out to a certain point and then you have to double back the same way you came, like I had to do in the Zooma Half. I seriously hate it.

After I registered for the race tomorrow, traffic took me by my old stomping ground: Villanova University. It’s parents weekend there this weekend and the place was packed, but just as beautiful as ever. I snapped some pictures of the church while sitting in traffic.

Oh to be back in college again…

September 2009 1058 September 2009 1059

I had a healthy little meal which was full of vegetables and some pasta for energy tomorrow morning along with some water. I have been hydrating like a crazy person all day!

September 2009 929

Just your basic lettuce, cucumbers, peppers, onions and carrots salad. Complete with some Brianna’s Salad Dressing. The pasta is topped with Trader Joe’s Vodka sauce. YUM!  September 2009 930
