I would like to officially welcome the blog world into my home in Philadelphia. It’s where I cook, study, read, watch TV, blog….it’s where I live. I hope you enjoy the tour!
When you first walk in the doors, this is what you walk into. There is a closet on your left and the kitchen is to your right.
This is a ladder shelf I got from Target. I love it. I put my keys in the plate when I walk in the door, it’s also where I put the incoming and outgoing mail. The basket on the bottom holds Jacksons leashes.
Across from the ladder shelf is a built in shelf. I love all the built-ins in this apartment. I feel it really opens up the light!
This is where the magic happens – The KITCHEN! It’s not too big, but it’s not too small. It’s juuuust right. It is big and wide enough for both boyf and I to be in the kitchen at the same time.
I wish there was a little more counter space for all my appliances, but I have the important ones out. I use my juicer, blender and toaster oven the most. The kitchen does have lots of storage space, and check out the built in wine rack above the refrigerator! Check out the wine rack’s here too!
Do you decorate your fridge? I love to put up pictures and cards and magnets! I realize there is a lot going on, but I love it!
This is the breakfast nook that looks into the kitchen and out to the living room. I like that I can still talk to boyf/watch the TV from here! Underneath the flowers is the sink.
Here is one side of the living room. Yes, boyf and I have matching recliners. I got him one for his birthday 2 years ago and there was a buy one get one free deal going on. HELLO!! I wanted one too! It was awesome. Obviously mine is the cream one and his is the manly black one. We want to get a nicer couch, hopefully that will happen soon. The one we have now isn’t the most comfortable.
Behind my recliner is another built-in bookshelf. I have kind of taken over this shelf with my books and cookbooks and pictures. I love it! Underneath it is where Jacksons food and water bowls and toys are kept. Its pretty neat how it hides Jacksons stuff.
This is the view from the couch. A close up of the built in and the breakfast nook complete with bar stools and a mini view into the kitchen. Check out the high ceilings!
Looking back into the kitchen. Don’t you think flowers right there complete the apartment look? I would love to have fresh flowers there ALL THE TIME! <hint hint boyf> 😉
The couch is facing the TV. In the TV unit we have some of our DVDs, boyf’s XBOX 360, my Wii and the rest of the TV electronics. I love the picture above the TV, its of old Philadelphia. I also love the yellow vase with the pussy-willow. It’s a nice pop of color. And yes, that is Full House on in the background. What can I say, I love re-runs!
This is Jackson’s little hut. He loves this space because he can lay in it and still watch us watch TV. Even if I move his bag from that area, he still goes there to lay down. He’s so silly!
Behind the living room is the sun room. I love to eat breakfast here, blog and read on the internet, and do my homework. It’s a great little space and lets in some fabulous natural light.
On the left of the sun room are some more shelves. We also keep our alcohol on the second shelf from the bottom and in the other cabinet we keep some nice glasses.
Did I mention I am kind of obsessed with our new kitchen table. We just got it a few weeks ago. I think it’s so modern and chic.
The second picture below is the view outside of the sun room. We are on the first floor which has its pros and cons. Being on the first floor made moving in super easy. No stairs was fabulous when carrying many boxes! It’s also nice when we take Jackson out. The apartments on the first floor also have higher ceilings! I just wish we were a floor up to be able to leave the sun room doors open. You don’t have much privacy on the first floor and have to keep everything closed!
Next up in the tour is the bathroom. It is quite spacious. Again, check out the high ceilings! The mirror you are looking at right now goes all the way up to the ceiling! It’s massive!
We have a large soaking tub (which I am obsessed with). The door on the left is a linen closet, the door in the middle is where our washer and dryer is. Above the washer/dryer is the hot water heater.
This is the little hallway in between the bathroom and the bedroom. I am taking the picture from the living room.
Here is our bedroom. Again, check out the MASSIVE high ceilings and the MASSIVE window! We still need to get window treatments/drapes and we also need to decorate the walls. We are doing little bits at a time, and it’s all coming along nicely.
Behind Jackson is my little corner (i sleep on the window side), if you look closely, you can see my race medals hanging down! Also, check out the ceiling fan. I love that!!
Do you like our bedspread? It took boyf and I a while to agree on something, but I love what we picked out!
Seriously, we need to get something on our walls! They look so bare, but the walls are so big, we can’t just put a little picture up there, it needs to be something substantial. Any suggestions?!
Jackson also wanted to show the blog world where he sleeps. Most of the time he goes to sleep in his bed, but I wake up in the morning and he is on our bed! Sneaky boy! He just loves to cuddle!
This is the view from Jackson’s bed by the window. From here you can see the walk in closet.
Close up on the picture in the middle of the wall separating the door outside and the walk in closet. It is a little collage I put together from when boyf and I went to Disney (check out some Disney recaps here, here and here) last February.
Welcome to my walk-in closet. You got a sneak peak of it here, but I wanted to give a little close up.
Big ceilings in the rest of the apartment = big ceilings in the closet! Can you guess which side is mine and which is boyf’s?
His & Hers Closet!
That’s the tour of the inside of the apartment. I also wanted to show you Jackson’s favorite part of the apartment complex. When you step outside the door to out apartment, you face a door which takes you outside to the courtyard/puppy play area. It is Jackson’s idea of heaven.
Behold Jackson’s play area. I love the gazebo, it’s so nice to sit under while Jacksons runs around and plays. I also love the grill. Anyone can use it. It’s nice that its out there for us.
Boyf and I and Jackson have met some really nice people and puppies in this play area. It’s so nice to come out here and sit or read and let Jackson roam. He could sit out here all day!
I hope you enjoyed my apartment tour! I really like living here so far. It has been great for the past few months living with boyf! I know I have some friends from Virginia and New York and Boston and even some Philadelphia friends that haven’t had a chance to come see it, so I hope this post entices my friends to come visit!
What’s your apartment like?
I will update everyone on my eats and running schedule in the next posts. I just wanted to share my apartment with the blog world. I hope everyone has a nice Monday!
