Ahhhhhh!! Fiancé and I have a wedding date and a church!! I am so beyond excited!!!!! Ahhh!!! It all finally seems really real!
We are going to this chapel:
Fiancé and I have made the decision to get married at our our old stomping ground: Villanova University. We both graduated from Villanova in 2006 and it is exciting to think that we are going to start our union as husband and wife right where we met. We are going to get married in the Villanova Church, which as far as I am concerned is the most beautiful church EVER!
I am from Virginia, and that is where my family is too. I originally thought I would have my wedding back in Virginia, but I really wanted to get married in a church that means something to me. The Villanova Church is very special.
I will walk down this aisle:
And we will be married on this alter:
Ahhh!! Can you tell I am excited? The church is so beautiful and perfect and I am SoOoOoOo happy!
I took these pictures 2 weeks ago. My mom came up for the day to meet fiancé’s mom for the first time. Can you believe we have been dating for 4 years and our parents are meeting after we are engaged? Well, that’s what happens when one family lives in Virginia and another family lives in New Jersey!
I got the final word on the church this morning. Villanova Alumni weddings are hard to come by! I had to get all these forms filled out, meet with priests and planners and get lots approved before they would even give us a date. They only do specific dates and specific times for alumni weddings and they only book 18 months out. Also, because the available dates are hard to come by, getting the date you want can be very competitive!
Seriously, the church couldn’t be any prettier!
So blog friends mark your calendars —
May 21, 2011
Only 569 days to go! Haha! I know its a year and a half away, but that’s what it takes to get the church we want, in the season we want and to go on the honeymoon we want – So I think it will be awesome that because we know the date and the church so far out, we can take the time to pick out everything we really want!
Here are the mothers of the bride and groom! They get along fabulously and they are just as excited as I am about the wedding!
Just imagine this picture with beautiful spring flowers! It’s going to be incredible! I am totally going to stalk weddings at the church this May to see how everything looks! Haha!
I heart Villanova. We had the best time ever going to school there, and it already has such a special place in my heart, and now that place gets to be even more special! It was so cool to go back to the church with the mom’s because we have all been in the church before, but now we are going into it with a new perspective – Our Upcoming Wedding!
After the mother’s of the bride and groom checked out the ceremony site at the chapel, we decided to show them our engagement spot.
It was nice to share that spot with the mom’s! They loved it just as much as I did!
Next up – RECEPTION! May is a pretty popular wedding month, so again, its good we have some extra time to check out some places before we make our decision. I also think many of the people who will be getting married in May 2011 may not be looking at reception places right now (or aren’t even engaged yet). My mom and das are coming up for the Philly Half Marathon next month to see me run, but the day before the race we are going to check out a bunch of different reception places then!
I can’t wait! I am going to bask in the engagement glory of the next 18+ months (569 days!) and enjoy every minute. I am going to enjoy stalking wedding websites and blogs and reading the magazines and checking out the reception sites. It is going to be so fun and I am going to savor every moment! I know it is all going to fly by!

That is soooooo beautiful!!!! And it's so perfect, you won't even have to dress it up with flowers if you didn't want to – breathtaking! I can't wait to see the wedding photos!
OMG, breathtaking church!! I'm glad things are really coming together for you both. (By the way, my fiance's parents and my parents are going to meet for the first time on the day of the wedding… if even then, hah.)
From a new blog reader…congratulations on selecting the church! It is beautiful! I am dating a guy whose parents are in Eastern PA and my parents are in Los Angeles, so they've never met. I understand that the distance can be a little bit of a drag!
