2009 was a fabulous (and VERY BUSY) year. I went through my blog and pulled out my favorite posts from each month. 600 + posts is A LOT to go through! This is a long post filled with the highlight from the past year. If you are a new blog reader (Welcome!) you can check out all the good stuff you may have missed! Enjoy!
February was a crazy month for me! I did lots of good cooking, joined a club lacrosse team, went to the sound check for Julianne Hough & Kellie Pickler, Fiancé got a promotion, I partied on a rooftop in NYC, went to Fashion Week in NYC, ran my first 5K of the season, drank my way through Epcot in Disney World, saw all the old American Idol’s, became a Maid of Honor when my BFF Michele got engaged, I purchased a juicer, and…my favorite post was when I was in Engaged! Magazine! If you don’t check out any other posts from my review, please check out this post, I am so proud!
I had my first green monster, Jackson tried out his rain gear, went Bridesmaid dress shopping with Michele, Saw Britney Spears FRONT ROW(Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4) , made homemade donuts, went to the National Air & Space Museum, my mom met Clinton Kelly and I went to Atlantis for the third time – Check out – The Views, The Beach, Eats & Drinks, Waterworks and Love
Highlights include – Making whole wheat & honey pizza dough, going to fiancé’s cousin’s wedding, drooling my way through Reading Terminal Market, embracing my foam roller, going to the Manayunk Brewfest, purchasing an amazing curler/straightener for my hair (and burning my neck), attempting to push over the Washington Monument, developing a love for photography and seeing the Cherry Blossoms in DC.
May is where I got the running bug! I ran my first 10-Mile race, met Jen Lancaster, Jackson got me a Mother’s Day card, I went to Great Falls Park, fell in love with chia seeds, realized my Top Gold potential, dominated a flip cup tournament, went to another romatical wedding and made engagement scampi (yes, on purpose!)
My Birthday Month! In June I said goodbye to an old friend, had a girl’s beach weekend, saw the New Kids on the Block in concert, got 35 shots in my arm, had my 25th Birthday in Avalon, NJ – made the decision to move back to Philadelphia with boyf, saw Obama in person, picked out a new apartment with boyf, my old roommate Jill got engaged, got my first facial and celebrated my dad’s 60th
In July I spent my last night in my bed in Virginia and made the drive up I-95 to move in with boyf in Philly. After the move Jackson had his first walk in his new domain. I fell in love with the Kelly Drive loop for my training runs, I also did this loop with Michele which was run!
I also went to Michele’s Engagement Party, had some fun with my dehydrator, made banana soft serve, contemplated all the islands I have visited, embraced my mom’s retro dishes. I also made some delicious PB cups, and Jackson was in a kissing booth
August is Jackson’s Birthday Month! This month I met RhodeyGirl for the first time, made watermelon juice, went to Bethany Bay for a mini vacation, Jackson made some friends in his new home, brought back Wing It Wednesday, got a new vacuum (which WAS as exciting as it sounds!) and a spiralizer, went to a Phillies game and an Eagles game
Also in August I got a NEW DOMAIN NAME, went to NYC to live the glamorous life and to take on the NYC Half Marathon. I also found relief in my Zensah running sleeves and frolicked around Laurel Hill Cemetary. It was another busy month!
The highlights (for me) in September were that I welcomed the blog world into my apartment with a tour and I went back to school. I also saw Rascal Flatts in the rain, got a mini netbook, went to the Japanese House & Garden, my friend Aileen was featured on the Nike Running Blog, ran a last minute 5k, saw Dave Matthews by moonlight and daylight and SAW BRITNEY SPEARS AGAIN! (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4 & Part 5) I also dyed my hair back brown this month! 🙂
My FAVORITE Month because it was my ENGAGEMENT Month! This was the month boyf became fiancé! Horray! That weekend we went to Lancaster, Pa for another wedding, went to Hershey’s chocolate world, and did lots of good wine tasting. It was a magical weekend. Then we went to the Philadelphia Zoo before the big event and got engaged at the Philadelphia Waterworks. Check out our proposal story for a romantical read.
After our engagement at the beginning of the month, it was still another crazy 3 weeks! We went to Virginia and celebrated our engagement with my family, I also tried on my mom’s wedding dress. I embraced my love for running in the fall, learned the correct way to open a pomegranate (and then made a POM-tini), celebrated fiancé’s 26th birthday with friends, went to Terror Behind the Walls, YOU picked Jackson’s Halloween costume (s), and the J-man went to a party with his furry friends
oh yeah, and we picked our wedding chapel
Lots of running this November! I started the month off by running 6.2 miles of the NYC Marathon with Aileen, was in 6 states in 24 hours, entered the lottery for the 2010 NYC Marathon. I ran 9 glorious miles in Philly, followed by 11 off-road miles with fiancé and then enjoyed my first ice bath. I also made an awesome race board!
Also this month fiancé and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary, we also recreated our first date 4 years later. I went to my first blogger event in Philly and then went to an impromptu after party at Cuba Libre. At the end of the month I was faced with the Philadelphia Half Marathon. Before the race I met Bart Yasso and set a new PR! I also made a Thanksgiving Dinner all by myself!
This month started out with going to see the Radio City Rockettes in Philly, I also decorated the apartment for Christmas and talked about my savings plan. This month I started the Only the Essentials Challenge, and I haven’t grocery shopped since. I dominated my Bio and Chem classes, hosted a holiday dinner party, got lots of snow in Philly, continued with my Christmas tradition of 3 years, won tickets to see Hansel & Gretel at the Met and went on a Food Tour in Greenwich, NYC.
This month I also concocted Peppermint Martinis (TRY ONE ASAP!), made Chocolate Covered Pretzels and Candy-Coated Chocolate Covered Pretzel Rods (and starred in my first You-Tube video here!) and Jackson did his first product reviews.
Wow, that post took all morning! I have had an amazingly, fun-filled, jam packed crazy 2009! I am looking forward to everything 2010 has in store for me!
