I was sent some awesome brownie mix from Kodiak Cakes the other day and I knew tonight would be the perfect night to make them. Sometimes you just need some chocolate in your life!
The Big Bear Brownie Mix from Kodiak Cakes is all natural and is 100% whole wheat. The ingredients include crystallized cane juice, natural cocoa, natural vanilla, and cane juice-sweetened chocolate chips for the ultimate double chocolate taste.
When I made these, I substituted an ingredient on the list. Instead of adding butter, I added some Musselman’s applesauce that was sent to me recently as well. I was amazed to learn that you can switch out butter in some recipes for some natural, unsweetened applesauce.
The wonderful people at Kodiak Cakes also sent along some of their Red Raspberry syrup. I added some to the brownie mix to give the brownies a hint of raspberry flavor.
I love recipes that call for just mixing a bunch of ingredients together in a bowl. It can’t get any easier than that!
I also enjoy mixing ingredients together in a bowl because I am a bowl-licker! Especially when the bowl is filled with chocolaty goodness, I am loving it!
Do you lick your baking bowl clean?
35 minutes in the oven later and we are ready to party! I enjoyed a lovely brownie on my mom’s retro dish.
The Musselman’s applesauce made the brownie moist and delicious. It was incredible. I am going to be using this trick all the time! The brownie had the perfect amount of chocolate flavor and the hint of raspberry syrup was perfect.
It was the perfect chocolate treat!
I wanted to share with the blog world that Musselman’s is donating ten cents to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) for every package of Musselman’s Natural Apple Sauce purchased in the month of January. I know the month is almost over, but if you are going to the grocery store in the next few days and need some applesauce in your life, pick up some Musselman’s for a good cause!
Here is a video that provides you with more information.
