Wedding Registry and Pinky Rings

Today was a glorious day! Fiancé and I did our first wedding gift registry! We narrowed down where we want to register to a few places and Crate and Barrel has always been on my list! I was told a few weeks ago by a friend about events that C&B were holding at various stores called The Wedding Parties. This event has been going on every Sunday this month and we went this morning!

The event is in the morning before the store actually opens to the public. It was for engaged couples to come and do their gift registry without the store being filled with customers, and the store associates were able to help us along the way. There was lots of food and drinks beautifully displayed all over the store. I had a mimosa to toast the start of the registry process!

But let me tell you right now – Registering for a wedding is HARD! We had no idea what we were doing or where to start. Our apartment now is small and we have no place to put anything, but you are supposed to register for the future and things you will need down the road. It was hard to decide how many place settings we should get and what kind of everyday dinnerware to decide on. Picking out various entertaining pieces and color schemes and patterns was a lot to decide on! It was very overwhelming.

After we got into the flow of things we eventually had some fun with the scanner and picked out some nice things. Here is fiancé and I being silly in the napkin aisle.

Fiancé caught me in scanning action!

It’s hard to pick out table settings when you haven’t finalized the dinnerware yet, but I am hoping we find something neutral that can go with everything (especially pretty table linens!)

I felt so powerful with my scanner gun! The whole store was at my fingertips! Haha. Not really, but it was exciting to pick out fun things we need! The most exciting scan of the day was a KitchenAid Stand Mixer! Fingers crossed that I get it! :)

I really had a hard time deciding on everything today. I couldn’t make up my mind! How do I know that this flatware will be the fork and knife I want to eat with for the  next 30 years? How do I know that I will like this dinnerware pattern next month?? I change my mind a lot so this kind of stuff freaks me out!

The best part about the registry process is that we can go home later and review everything and add or remove things from our registry online. So it wasn’t a TOTAL commitment of everything!

We had a good time together today. It will be exciting when we start getting our plates and bowls! Obviously, being a food blogger, that stuff is SUPER EXCITING TO ME!

What was your wedding registry experience like?

Today was also a fun day because my mom came up from Virginia to visit. She actually came up to visit a friend of hers that lives in the area, and I got to see her for a few hours while she was here!

In true fabulous mom fashion, she brought me a little present today.

Check it out:

This is my mom’s original wedding band that she has had for 30+ years. Before Christmas, her band broke. The jeweler said they couldn’t fix it back to it’s original shape so she got herself a new band, and had her old one made into 2 pinky rings.

One for her and one for me! :)

I love the fact that my mom and I have matching rings. It’s so special to me that I get to wear part of her wedding band.

Snow 584

I love it! I am wearing it on my right hand and I think its so cute! It’s dainty and classy.

Thanks so much mom!

Do you have any special piece of jewelery that you wear all the time?

Obviously I never take off my engagement ring and now this pinky ring is my new obsession!

5th Place

I just found out that I got 5th place in my division yesterday! I can’t believe how close I came to getting a medal! I am so excited! It is a goal of mine to get a medal in a race (not including finishers medals!) and yesterday I came SO CLOSE! Next time!

It’s weird for me to come so close to getting an award for running a race. When I ran the NYC Snowflake 5K, I got 86th place in my division. When I ran the Main Line 5K, this past fall I got really close and came in 8th place! I don’t even want to think about what place I came in for the 4 Half Marathons! I just would love to medal in a shorter distance race! It all just goes to show you that with hard work and dedication you can really improve your running skills. It just takes time and you have to work at it. I only started seriously running a little over a year ago. There has been lots of blood, sweat and tears, but I am very proud of my running accomplishments and I am grateful for every mile.

Check out all the loot from my race yesterday. I love it when you get a nice swag bag from a race. I got an awesome long sleeved shirt, an Asics hat, pens, some lotion, chips and a pair of running gloves. I can’t wait to wear this shirt with pride. Maybe I’ll rock it out to class this week!

After I laid all my loot down yesterday to take a picture, I turned around for 5 seconds and guess who had set up shop on my goodies!

He looks quite comfortable, don’t you think?

And then Jackson decided to take a nap…right on my race bib.

Snow 542_thumb[1]

Doesn’t this look just say to you – “Stop bothering me mom, I’m trying to sleep!”

Snow 543_thumb[1] Snow 544_thumb[1]

I don’t know why he wanted to make this his nap area for the afternoon, but he did! It’s just how he rolls! Snow 546_thumb[1]

He’s so cute and I am pretty sure he knows it!

Does your pet take naps in weird places? Usually Jackson likes to lay in clothes I have worn, I am assuming because they smell like me? I understand that, I don’t know why he wanted to lay on my race gear, but the heart wants what it wants I guess!

After Jackson decided he wanted to take a nap elsewhere I grabbed my race bib and headed straight to my race board to add the newest number to my growing collection. It looks so pretty smack dab in the middle! I love the cute penguin on the bib!

I can’t wait to add 2 more to my collection next month!
