SmartWool for Cold Weather Running

Running in the cold weather is ROUGH! I has been hard keeping myself motivated for my upcoming races when it’s been so difficult to run outside! 3 feet of snow outside will sure put a damper on any training plan! Since it’s been too cold to run outside, I have been sticking to the treadmill in the gym most days. I don’t know what I would do if I didn’t have this gym in our apartment complex!

I wanted to share with you a product I have recently discovered that has helped me deal with my cold weather runs.

Enter Smartwool.

The wonderful people at Smartwool sent me a few products to test out during this winter weather in Philadelphia. First up to review is the Woman’s Sport NTS Tee. This bad boy is made out of 100% Merino Wool. It is fitted and sleek and is super comfortable. It is also unbelievable warm!

I love the watermelon color that they sent. It’s so pretty! It features a crew neckline and fitlock seam construction so there is no chafing. I could pretty much live in this shirt, it feels so good! Did I mention is is unbelievably warm? It has kept me warm and feeling good during lots of runs inside and outside!

I wore it during my last longer run outside ( it feels like forever since I have done a training run on Kelly Drive!) and it worked like a charm!

I also wore it during the Ambler Frostbite 5 Miler this past weekend with only a long sleeve shirt underneath. Obviously when you are running you get warmer from all the activity, but this shirt keeps the warmth in and helps keep your body at a comfortable temperature.

I was also sent some Smartwool socks to try out! These bad boys mean business! They are the PhD Run Ultra Light Mini. They are 69% Merino Wool, 28% Nylon and 3% Elastic. They are a fabulously cushioned sock. So comfortable! I feel like I am walking on clouds when I wear them!

I also have worn these socks for a few different runs inside, outside and even for the race this past weekend. They were super comfortable, amazingly warm and kept my feet at a great temperature. My feet tend to get really cold and then continue to stay cold, especially my toes, during the winter, but these socks kept my feet feeling very toasty!

Another great find for runners in cold weather!

So those are some of my favorite things for my top and my feet during cold weather running. Stay tuned for my favorite running pants!

I’m Toast!

I have been on such an oatmeal kick for the past few weeks I forgot about one of my original love’s – TOAST! I was quickly reminded about one of my favorite morning eats when I received a lovely package from Crofter’s Superfruit Spread.

Snow 246

The Superfruit Spreads come in 4 flavors – Asia, Europe, North America and South America. From the website: “Stuffed with 1 pound of premium organic fruit, our new line of Superfruit Spreads includes four unique fruit combinations, sourced from around the world. Each certified organic spread is sweetened with fair trade sugar and contains one-third less sugar than jam.”

Snow 247

These spreads are antioxidant powerhouses from the 4 corners of the Earth! I love the colorful and fun packaging!

Snow 248

This morning I tried – Asia. This flavor is a combination of yumberries and raspberries. I have never heard of a yumberry before, but it sure sounded yummy! This flavor focuses on both fruits which are native to East Asia. This combination is known for maintaining and resorting health.

Snow 249

I had my toast with my Superfruit spread and some of my current favorite butter. It was pure perfection for a Tuesday morning.

Snow 250

This spread is amazing! I can’t wait to try the other 3 flavors!

What’s your favorite thing to put on toast?
