Kath’s SIAB – (Smoothie in a Bowl)

Last night I was inspired by Kath’s beer and this morning I was inspired by Kath’s SIAB. I have seen this on Kath’s blog many a morning and today I decided to try it for myself! You all know much immense love for the Green Monster, so how could this not be a total hit in my little breakfast world?!

I made my green monster with – spinach, almond milk, a banana, and chia seeds. I also had a little chocolate craving this morning, so I added in some Click espresso protein powder. It gave the monster a serious kick! I loved it!

After my monster was all blended and ready to go I picked out a pretty bowl ( it has to look good for the blog!) and poured it all in!

I then sprinkled some oats on the top and also added some Kaia Foods Buckwheat raw granola in Cocoa Bliss which was sent to me to try. I completed the SIAB with some peanut butter on top!

It was such a pretty creation! Almost to pretty to eat.

Almost!

Snow 609

I also made so much green monster, that I had leftover. So I enjoyed my SIAB with a side of green monster! I apparently couldn’t get enough this morning! Is there such a thing as green monster overload?

Snow 607

This was such a different change of pace than how I usually enjoy my green monster. I usually enjoy it in a massive cup with a straw and slurp on it while getting ready in the morning. Today’s creation had me sitting at the table, eating breakfast like a human being! It was nice to sit down and relax and enjoy my meal.

How do you eat your breakfast?

On the go? At the office? Do you not eat breakfast? Do you sit down and enjoy it? Let me know!

SnOMG!

Can you believe it’s still snowing here in Philadelphia? This is madness! It has officially been snowing for 24 hours straight, and its not supposed to end for another 12 hours or so! It just started sticking to the ground a little while ago so tomorrow’s rush hour should be interesting! We still have a good amount left from the last snow storm.

Fiancé and I just finished watching Defiance (which was an awesome movie by the way!) but I wanted to do another post with some snowy pictures.

Snow 176

It’s been a winter wonderland here in Philadelphia the past few months! I can’t believe we got this much snow!

Snow 173

It sure is pretty to look at, from the comfort of my warm apartment. I wouldn’t want to have to be outside driving around in this tonight!

Snow 177

I love snowy trees!

Snow 178

In the true Philadelphia spirit of drinking during snow storms, I enjoyed a beverage while we watched the movie. This beer was inspired by Kath! I always see it on her blog!

 Snow 623Snow 626

I’ve never had it before, but it was very yummy – the perfect ‘it’s snowing outside/movie watching’ treat!

Have you ever had this beer before? What’s  your favorite brew?

National Chili Day 2010

Apparently I found out earlier this morning via twitter that today is National Chili Day! If that’s not a call for celebration, I don’t know what is!

Did you know that was today? I love any reason to celebrate chili! It’s one of my all time favorite meals to make. Since it was a snow day for me here in Philly today, I decided to put some chili on the pot this morning. It has been simmering in the crock pot all day! Yum!

I added some Applegate Farms Chicken and Apple sausage to the chili mix. It gave the chili a little something extra!

Snow 163

In this chili mix I also added kidney beans, chickpeas, snap peas, cauliflower, corn, petite diced tomatoes, carrots and peppers. It smelled so great in my apartment all day! Yum!

  Snow 166

While the chili was slow cooking away I realized I also wanted some cornbread in my life to celebrate National Chili Day. I decided to remake a version of my homemade donuts, except in the form of cornbread. I made these bad boys with applesauce and cinnamon and they turned out a little thinner than I would have liked, but I made it work!

Snow 165

Yummy chili! Check out all those veggies.

   Snow 169

Jackson was jealous! He wanted some too!

Snow 167

I added some ‘cornbread,’ and topped it off with some cheese and some fat free plain yogurt ( the ultimate sour cream alternative!)

Snow 170Snow 171

It was the perfect meal to celebrate snow falling on the ground outside as well as National Chili Day!

Do you like to celebrate random holidays? What’s your favorite?
