Flaunt Your Rock

As many of you know I am recently engaged and planning a wedding for next May, 2011 (Save the Date)! Fiancé and I are always doing one thing or the other for our upcoming nuptials – weather it be working on our registry or searching for the perfect reception site or stalking local photographers.

I recently came across an awesome Philly photographer – April Ziegler – who is hosting an amazing contest that I am DYING to win. April is a photographer of modern, fun pets AND weddings. Hello, could that not be more Jackson and me (and I guess fiancé comes into that equation too! ) Obviously I am a crazy pet fan and weddings are my new favorite hobby, specifically MY wedding!

April’s contest is for newly engaged couples to show off their new bling. The winner with the best photograph of their bling will receive a full engagement session and a $100 print credit. Did I mention I am DYING to win this! I love Aprils style and her pictures are amazing. I would love to work with her!

I need your help!

I took two pictures of my bling, which I love equally and I can’t decide which one to submit.

Picture 1: This is the original bling picture. I took it the night we got engaged on top of the box it came in. I love the fact that this picture shows the setting clearly, and the soft ribbon detail is beautiful too.

Picture 2: I took this picture over the weekend with the last rose from my Valentine’s Day bouquet. I love the contrast of the red against the ring.

Which picture should I submit??

Let me know what you think! I really can’t decide and I need all the help I can get. I really want to win this!!

I absolutely LOVE the first picture.

  2. Olivia

oh my gosh! They're both BEAUTIFUL but there is something about the rose one. I feel like it's more unique, as I'm sure I've seen a million pictures of the ring with the ribbon. (But believe me, the ring looks STUNNING in the ribbon one). I'd go with the rose one!! The color is gorgeous and the ring really pops!

  3. Jessica @ How Sweet

I LOVE the first picture girl! I think it is amazingly elegant. :)

  4. misszippy

I like the first picture, but I don't think you can go wrong either way!

  5. Lacey

wow i LOVE LOVE love picture 1. such a pretty close up. better to see the ring!!!

  6. AlwaysJoy

I think the 1st picture is so stunning!

  7. Genesis

    first picture definitely!

  8. Ashley

The rose is more creative, but I love the ribbon one — it shows off your ring so nicely.

    Good luck!

  9. Paige

I think the ribbon picture shows off the ring better. It looks like it was taken by a professional! :)

  10. davidyingling

One. The ring is much more at the center of your picture

  11. Andrea

I vote for #2 even though both are absolutely gorgeous!!

  12. Tracy P

    I Love the 1st one!

  13. Dolce

I just discovered your blog through the Foodie Blogroll. I love it :)

And congratulations on your engagement !!

  14. Carly

Numero uno for sure! I think using flowers is less unique than the first one. And having taken a photography class or two, I think the first one has far more visual interest. Good luck!

  15. MoraPiggy

Definately the first, it's more original.

  16. Cassie

i love the first one – your ring comes through so clearly. it is truly beautiful!

have you made any headway finding a reception hall in the area? i've been looking but haven't found a perfect one yet. you?

  17. ~Mrs. Guru~

    I really like picture 1!

  18. andrea

    I like the first one.

  19. Jacqui

I am going with the first one too. Shows the ring better and I like that the ribbion has meaning too!

  20. Lori

Both are great! The first one is my favorite. You can really see the ring and its setting.

  21. Emily

    Number 1 – no doubt!

  22. Fattie Fatterton

    Picture one!!

  23. Jenna

Both are beautiful, but I slightly favor #2. I like the different, off-centered perspective, and the red is so deep and rich.

  24. Carly

i am in love with the first one. its simple, elegant, and sweet

  25. RhodeyGirl

I love the photo with the rose. The contrast is beautiful!

  26. Jenny

oh tough call, they're both equally gorgeous!! but I think the first one REALLY captures the beauty of the ring itself!

  27. ladypurpl

I vote for picture one. There's a softness and elegance that shows through. The ring is so gorgeous that it would fabulous anywhere!

  28. Jimmy Spinelli

I like them both, but I think that the first picture really brings out the bling in the ring.

  29. Allie

I like the contrast of the second one but the first one shows off the ring better, so I say go with picture #1.

  30. Jenn

    The first one!

Love your blog by the way.. combines my 2 favorite things- a dog and running!

  31. feetinmotion

I love both pictures, like you said the rose one is vibrant, but it doesn't show off the ring very much. If you were to take it again and got a more closer/detailed version of the ring, I would probably pick that one.

But the first one is so clear and simple, very delicate.

  32. Megan

Wow. Both are GORG! I guess I have to choose the first one. :) It seems to show off the ring more!

  33. Lisa

I vote #1. I love the photo and it really grabs my attention. #2 is nice, but it doesn't have the same "wow" effect as #1.

  34. Lindsey @ Sound Eats

#1! I think it shows the ring better and looks a little more lovely. Too much blank space in the rose one, as much as I like it (and it reminds me of a similar photo I took with my ring after I got engaged!).

Also – please let me know if you need any help with wedding planning, particularly on a budget! I did ours for under $5000 and I've done some event planning work, too. :)
