Philadelphia Movie Sites Tour

Tonight I got to attend a fun media event on behalf of Uwishunu. The Philadelphia Movie Sites Tour is starting their 5th year of tours and they held a media event to celebrate the new season!

I boarded a special tour bus and immediately was handed some snacks. What’s going to the movies without some treats? I got some popcorn, candy, a water and a media packet.

March 314

I loved the GPFO logo. It reminded me of a place fiancé and I just visited! Look familiar?

 March 315

Check out our ride! The actual tour will be on a different bus which holds 21 people, but this bus was bigger for the media event.

March 325

The inside was equipped with some televisions, which were used to watch specific movie clips, as well as an awesome tour guide.

March 316

The tour stops at various locations throughout the city of Philadelphia to show you where different movie scenes were filmed. You watch the movie clip, drive by the location and the tour guide shares some secrets about the filming in that area.

It was a really cool tour. We saw lots of places where National Treasure was filmed:

March 318

And where some scenes from The Sixth Sense took place:   March 320

As well as a scene from the Italian Job:

March 319

The entire tour is 2.5 hours long, covers more than 50 movie sites and nearly 30 movies and shows filmed in Philadelphia. It was so interesting, and half of the movie’s we saw I didn’t even know where filmed here!

It was also a really nice night out in Philly for this tour. I brought my friend Jill along with me tonight and we had a nice time walking around the city for a bit after.

      March 326

After some talking and walking we decided to stop in Jones for a drink and a bite to eat. It’s one of the Steven Starr Restaurants I haven’t been to yet, so it was fun to check out!

March 327

We sat down and each got a fun drink.

March 330

I told the bartender I wanted something fun, but not too sweet. She suggested the Fountain of Youth – Smirnoff Blueberry, Green Tea and Mint. It smelled and tasted so yummy! I would definitely order that again!March 331

Jill got the Bubbly Breeze – Rum and Champagne are always winning combinations in my book! It was pretty and pink!

March 332

I loved the vibe in Jones, it was really cool.

  March 334

I don’t know why but the place reminded me of the Brady Bunch. Maybe it was the fake flowers and the nightlights. It was very inviting and homey with really cool interior decorating.

March 335

It was nice to enjoy an evening down in the city with my old roommate and fellow bride to be! We had a great time catching up!

March 339

Since we had snacked at the Movie Tour we weren’t too hungry, but split two appetizers anyways. I wanted to try some of the food! We shared the chicken and rock shrimp dumplings and the baked macaroni and cheese. Both were pretty awesome. Total comfort food. I loved it!

I want to come back here again for dinner one night! It was a fun place!

    Whooo! Thank you!

I lived in Philly when 6th Sense, Unbreakable, and even Philadelphia (I was in school then, they used our campus fir some scenes) were filmed. Philly does such a good job of encouraging and attracting tv and film production companies.

My favorite Stephen Starr restaurant is still Buddakan. Wasabi mashed potatoes!

What a fun night! Especially fun to celebrate with your former roommate. I'd love to take that tour next time I'm in Philly. I have been to Buddakan and it was fabulous. I was there with some special people that are in my life. I need to try Jones next time I'm in Philly.

its funny – jones is the only stephen starr restaurant i can convince my fiance to go to (unless it's my birthday lol) – he loves all the comfort food. and i've gotten that martini before … you made me crave it! glad you enjoyed your evening :)

I was on this same tour and by golly it was absolute garbage. Film buffs will hate it. It's just snarky gossip (i.e. "Ben bought J-Lo her famous pink ring while filming "Jersey Girl")… the tour guide got half of the information wrong… yes i was on the same tour… this would be a waste of money if you are looking for a good time and/or interesting film facts. avoid at all costs.
