Make-up by Meredith

Hi friends! I can’t believe it’s already Friday! I really can’t believe that its May 1st tomorrow! Craziness! I hope time slows down a bit so we can all enjoy the nice weather.

Tomorrow fiancé and I are having our engagement pictures taken and I couldn’t be more excited! Remember when you helped vote for us to win this engagement session? I am still so thankful for everyone’s support!

In honor of our engagement picture photo shoot, I decided to team up with my friend, Meredith, who is a make-up pro, and get her opinion on how to do my make-up for the shoot. Meredith, being as awesome as she is, offered to help me with picking out some new make-up (can you ever REALLY have enough?) and then helping me practice applying it for the shoot.

She did one of my eyes and I practiced on the other. Here are some pictures I took of the final result. Let me know what you think!

It’s hard to take self pictures, but these are the best I could do!

I am loving how my eyes turned out. I want something simple and classic. I don’t wear too much make-up as it is, so I wanted to keep it to a minimal, but I also want to look nice for the pictures. I think this is a great compromise.

What do you think of my engagement picture make-up?

All in all it was a great make-up tutorial! Mere is an awesome teacher. She recently started her own blog, which documents various product features as well as make-up sessions she does. Check out her blog and say hello!

In other news – so many of you asked where I got my Engagement Party dress so I wanted to share that with you. It is from Nicole Miller – you can check it out here. It was a little pricey, but I loved it, and I splurged a little for the party. It was a special occasion! I obviously got it in white, but I love the new aqua color too. Maybe I will dye the white dress after the honeymoon!

It was a great dress, I was totally comfortable in it and I loved the fit and style. Worth every penny!

In other OTHER news – I finally signed up for the Oddyssey Half Marathon! It is a week before the North Face Endurance Challenge I am running (with some other beautiful but it will be good practice so I will be ready to go! I have talked with Lauren about running together and Melissa as well. We might have a little group of runners! If you want to join us, shoot me an email and let me know!

The Terrace @ Thirteen

On Tuesday evening I got to attend a fabulous event downtown in Center City Philadelphia on behalf of uwishunu. I love my blogging gig for uwish! I get to check out so many awesome places!

13 043

The event was held at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown’s on site restaurant – Thirteen. I was excited to check out this new place and learn more about their Spring/Summer specials. I came ready with my SLR in tow!

This was a special media event showcasing the new appetizers and drink specials Thirteen would be offering. They had a long list of awesome things to try!

Sabrina came to the event too, as she is another uwishunu writer!  As soon as we got there, we both made a beeline straight for the food to get our photo shoot started! Clearly we were both in ‘food blogger mode.’ I snapped a picture of her in action.

13 009

There were lots of dishes to try and everything was beautifully displayed. Here are a few pictures of the awesome eats:

Octopus Ceviche

13 008

Shrimp pizza

13 012

Fried pork chicharrones

 13 013

Chicken Banh-mi

13 014

And lots of other goodies!

I was excited about the food, but I was also equally excited to try out the new drink specials! The first drink I tried was the Candyman. Yes, it is just as yummy as it looks! It was delish!

13 021

I snapped a picture with my uwishunu editor – Hey Eric ! He’s so awesome, it was nice to hang out with him downtown for a bit.

  13 023

Have you ever seen a prettier purple cocktail?

13 02613 024

I need to recreate this bad boy at home!

13 030

Also, the rock candy was nothing short of amazing.

  13 032

The first thing I tried after I enjoyed my drink was a big ‘ol ear of corn.

Random? Yes. Was it possibly for display only and not meant to be eaten? Maybe. But I love me some corn, so I grabbed it off the table and sat down to eat  it!

13 033

It was pretty massive with the big husk!

  13 035

But it was good! I love corn in the summer!

13 036

Everything on the menu was really tasty. I tried a little bit of everything and really enjoyed it. The appetizers and cocktails were all super affordable. The cocktails were all only $4, which for Center City Philadelphia is an amazing deal.

After some eats I enjoyed some sangria, which was also out of this world – in taste and appearance! How pretty does all the fruit look floating around in there? It was very tasty!

  13 040

Thanks for the awesome evening Thirteen and uwishunu! I can’t wait to come back again soon!
