The Terrace @ Thirteen

On Tuesday evening I got to attend a fabulous event downtown in Center City Philadelphia on behalf of uwishunu. I love my blogging gig for uwish! I get to check out so many awesome places!

The event was held at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown’s on site restaurant – Thirteen. I was excited to check out this new place and learn more about their Spring/Summer specials. I came ready with my SLR in tow!

This was a special media event showcasing the new appetizers and drink specials Thirteen would be offering. They had a long list of awesome things to try!

Sabrina came to the event too, as she is another uwishunu writer!  As soon as we got there, we both made a beeline straight for the food to get our photo shoot started! Clearly we were both in ‘food blogger mode.’ I snapped a picture of her in action.

There were lots of dishes to try and everything was beautifully displayed. Here are a few pictures of the awesome eats:

Octopus Ceviche

Shrimp pizza

13 012

Fried pork chicharrones

 13 013

Chicken Banh-mi

13 014

And lots of other goodies!

I was excited about the food, but I was also equally excited to try out the new drink specials! The first drink I tried was the Candyman. Yes, it is just as yummy as it looks! It was delish!

I snapped a picture with my uwishunu editor – Hey Eric ! He’s so awesome, it was nice to hang out with him downtown for a bit.

  13 023

Have you ever seen a prettier purple cocktail?

I need to recreate this bad boy at home!

13 030

Also, the rock candy was nothing short of amazing.

  13 032

The first thing I tried after I enjoyed my drink was a big ‘ol ear of corn.

Random? Yes. Was it possibly for display only and not meant to be eaten? Maybe. But I love me some corn, so I grabbed it off the table and sat down to eat  it!

13 033

It was pretty massive with the big husk!

  13 035

But it was good! I love corn in the summer!

13 036

Everything on the menu was really tasty. I tried a little bit of everything and really enjoyed it. The appetizers and cocktails were all super affordable. The cocktails were all only $4, which for Center City Philadelphia is an amazing deal.

After some eats I enjoyed some sangria, which was also out of this world – in taste and appearance! How pretty does all the fruit look floating around in there? It was very tasty!

Thanks for the awesome evening Thirteen and uwishunu! I can’t wait to come back again soon!

Oat Bowl Obsession

I love a new oat bowl.

Oat bowls (and placemats!) are some of my favorite things to purchase. Sure I take pictures of my oats regularly for people to read on the blog and want my pictures to be different and fun, but I also really like an awesome oat bowl just for me to enjoy.

This, my friends, is an oat bowl for the ages. It is part of a set of 4 different colored bowls we got at the engagement party this weekend. It wasn’t bought off our registry, which can always be a little dangerous – I don’t even know where these little bowls are from, but I LOVE them.

I love the color and the texture of the bowl.

I also believe I have discovered the secret to the perfect oat bowl – use a RICE bowl! I am not exactly sure if this is a rice bowl, but it looks like one and its similar in size. Its the perfect portioned bowl for 1 cup of glorious oats (plus toppings!)

13 004

The perfect bowl makes this the perfect breakfast! Thanks future sister in law Kate for the awesome gift!

13 005

Expect to see other colored bowls from this set! Be excited!

Do you have a bowl or plate obsession?

I am sure there are lots of other people (especially foodies!) who make a beeline straight to the home goods section of stores to check out awesome plates and bowls and cups! Share your love for tableware!
