I am a big believer in trying new things. I love to try new places to eat and to try new things on different menus. My parents told me that they had a new place for us to try out for dinner:
I have always been a fan of Thai food. My parents never wanted to try out any Thai restaurants with me in high school. Whenever we went out for family dinners I wanted Thai, but no one else did. When they suggested this Thai restaurant tonight I was very surprised and excited. Apparently they went here with some friends and loved it. I was hoping to love it too!
Cee’s is a cute little restaurant off Fairfax Boulevard.
I loved all the detail as soon as I sat down. Check out these cute plates. I want them in my apartment!
As soon as we sat down, we ordered drinks! I got a Pinot Noir, my dad got a Thai beer and my mom got a lychee martini
Cheers to mama, papa and daughta!
Say hello to my mom and dad blog world! I think this is their first official blog picture!
And here I am! Their favorite (only) daugther!
Cheers to a weekend at home with the ‘rents!
My mom and I were practicing out wedding smiles today. She told me that when you say “Prune” you naturally smile.
Here I am mid- “prune” – try it, it works!
The happy family, minus brother and fiancé (and the dogs!) – ok we are missing many parts of our family, but this is dad with the girls!
On to dinner! We started off with Paper Moons – which are crab filled won-tons! They were delish!
Then we all split some chicken satay and jacketed shrimp.
They we split Pad Himmapan – Sliced chicken sautéed stir fried with cashew nut, onion, bell pepper and carrot.
We also had the Panang – chicken cooked in panang curry paste with
coconut milk and basil leaves.
Both dishes were awesome, but they also were FIREY HOT! They were burning my face off! I love a spicy dish, but these were crazy hot. The food was awesome, but next time we come back I have to ask them to tone down my plates a tiny bit. I thought I could handle the spice, but I was wrong.
Can you handle spicy dishes?
For dessert we had my favorite Thai dish – mango and sticky rice. This stuff rocks my socks off.
Have you ever tried this dish?
I love me some Thai food! Yummers!

I love Thai food…and wine 🙂 I also love the pictures of your mum and dad. This is just such a great post, Leslie. It is going to make Jimmy very hungry – I see Thai in my future tonite. I sent you a little sunshine on my (our) blog today 🙂
thanks for the review – i've been wanting to try it – looks yummy and looks like it will live up to Tara Thai's rep 🙂
i'm prob 15 mins from there
I love Thai food. I was first introduced to it while visiting a friend when I was 14. I was hooked. I actually developed more of a tolerance for heat because I wanted to be able to try more Thai dishes. I'm now in the medium range for heat tolerance but it means I can now eat most things Thai. Yum – my favorites ate curries, an eggplant-green bean dish, and praram – love spinach with peanut sauce!
Now I want Thai food!!
wish you had time to meet up while you were in town!
Cee's I think is better than Tara Thai – been to both and prefer Cee;s. Friends who have lived in Thailand said that the food is very authentic. Looks like you have enjoyed your weekend at home.
Jay and Sharon,I’m so happy to hear Jay is healing well and you were able to go on a mini trip. Please give Jay’s parntes our sincere thanks for the thank you card and gift certificate. What a nice surprise. It was very thoughtful of them. I’m just sorry we couldn’t do more to help Jay feel better. Next time you come through we will go to dinner and celebrate a successful trip. Best wishes for a safe and successful service driven project. Barbara
