After our big engagement pictures, fiancé and I came home, packed all our stuff real quick and headed out with friends to Lancaster, PA.
Enter Amish Country.
Yes we saw multiple horse and buggy’s go by. They are awesome.
We were travelling this weekend for a friends wedding in Lancaster which is only a little over an hour away from Philadelphia. Just a short drive out of the city and you are in a completely different world! After a little while of scenic driving we pulled over to check out a wine gallery.
Kate and I were slightly entertained by the town name of the Wine Gallery where we stopped.
Yes there really is a town called Intercourse, PA.
The winery was really cute. It was nice that we weren’t rushing to get anywhere and had time to stop and smell the vino.
I love me some wine, but this type wine isn’t really my style. I enjoy drier wines and these were all more on the sweet end. I loved sweet wines when I first started drinking wine, but the more and more I drink it, the more I shy away from the sweeter flavoring.
Are you a dry or sweet wine drinker?
I know what I like, but that didn’t stop me from trying out a few of the different wines just to be sure! This gallery had free wine tastings of any of their wines, which is really nice. I am a big believer in trying before you buy!
The gallery had lots of cute wine gifts and souvenirs. It was a cute little shop.
After our little wine pit stop we headed on over to our hotel to check in. We were staying at the Cork Factory Hotel, which is where the wedding and reception was taking place.
This place was so cool and had so much character. The buildings were built in 1865 and consists of a hotel, ballroom, restaurant and bar as well as luxury apartments. It’s such a neat little area!
Our room was pretty sweet. I love the brick walls.
After we checked in to the hotel we still had some time to kill before the ceremony so we decided to head on over to downtown Lancaster. On our way there we spotted Lancaster Brewing Company and had to stop in for some eats and drinks!
The actual brewing area is built right in with the restaurant and bar area. It’s pretty cool to see.
I have a strong love for the LBC Milk Stout but since I was in the actual brewery I decided to take the bartenders recommendation and try something new.
When in Rome!
LBC has so many awesome beers, I wanted to try them all!
I went with Amish 4 Grain per the bartenders advice. It was really yummy and I had never heard of it before, so it was nice to try something new.
I also enjoyed a blueberry and goat cheese salad. It was an awesome combination.
And then it was time for the wedding!
Stay Tuned!

I used to live close to Lancaster, and I really miss Sunday drives in Amish Country! I've been to Lancaster Brewing Co several times and loved it!
Don't you love how you can tell who is really from the area by how they pronounce Lancaster?
I need to get out there soon. It has been too long. I think a Shadymaple trip is in my near future.
Love Lancaster! Haven't been there in years, but it's always great to visit. Yes, I did know about the town called Intercourse. We stayed at a Bed and Breakfast which was very nice last time I was there. Glad you, fiance, Kate and Noodles enjoyed the winery and brewery before the wedding – why not?
