Running Buddy

Before I get into this afternoons post, I know a few of your reached out to me letting me know that the OpenSky Glass dharma coupon was giving you problems. If you had trouble ordering, shoot me an email or leave a comment below and we will get the coupon code working for you!

What a GLORIOUS day for a run! My new friend Melissa, who I had met at the Phila-Foodie Meet-up a few weeks ago and I have been trying to get together for a long run for a few weeks now. Today was the day, and I am so glad it worked out! It was so perfect out for a nice long run!

run 001

Melissa met up with me at my apartment and we ran over to Kelly Drive to conquer the 8 mile loop. I love running this loop so much because I hate running down one way and then turning back and running it home. It’s so much more fun to loop on a run!

run 002

It was an amazing run! Melissa and I chatted away the entire time, the miles flew by! We have so much in common – we both love to run (obviously!), we both are going back to school for the same Master’s Program and we both have a love for living a healthy lifestyle. I know we are going to be great friends! :)

Side Note: I know most of you have read our proposal story, but did you know that fiancé wanted to propose to me in the Philadelphia Zoo balloon?? He tried to get us up there for 2 weeks before he proposed, but the weather never cooperated. (They don’t let the balloon go up if there is ANY wind at all!) Random fact! :)

And then Melissa and I ran past our engagement spot. I also showed her where we had our engagement pictures take a few weeks ago! I love that our spot is so close! It makes me so happy.

Melissa and I were pounding the pavement. We got down to the Art Museum, about 5.5 miles into the run and were feeling great! It felt awesome to get in a nice long run on this beautiful day today. We are both training for the Oddyssey Half at the end of this month!

run 006

We HAD to run up the Rocky Steps and take some pictures!

Running up those steps is an awesome workout! It feels great to reach the top and see the city skyline!

And then we took some more pictures. I love being a tourist in the city where I live! It’s so much more fun!

I downed some GU Chomp chews (which were sent to me to sample) about 6 miles into the run. They were yummy. I enjoyed the orange flavor and I usually am not an orange fan. But these were good!

run 013

Apparently they are setting up for another regatta this weekend on Kelly Drive. They have fun stuff like this all the time when the weather is nice! It’s so nice that its right outside my door. I kind of want to come check it out this weekend!

Anyone have any regatta viewing advice?

run 014

The last 2 miles of the run, my legs were FEELING IT. It was really good to get this run in before the half. I am feeling good about the race in a few weeks now. It was even more fun to run with a buddy! It makes time fly by! Thanks for running with me Melissa! Hopefully we can get together for another run real soon!

 run 015

We ended up running 11 miles in 1:45:19 – which is about a 9:30 pace, which is awesome. We chatted the whole time and just enjoyed the scenery and the company, so it was great! I love running in the morning and then just feeling awesome the entire rest of the day!

Best feeling ever!

Do you run with a buddy or alone?

Looks like an amazing run! I wish I wish I WISH I had a running buddy! I'd love to meet up (even just once a week) to get in a good run AND some gossip time!

I have walking buddies and it's so much fun to walk fast and catch up with each other at the same time. Your day was really pretty in Philly, here is was cloudy and drab all day – UGH! Good luck in your training this month!
