Welcome to Our New Apartment!

So I wanted to share with everyone on the blog world my new apartment! Fiancé and I have been here a little over a week and we are really enjoying the new space!

I wanted to give everyone a little tour of our new place  all set up!

The apartment are is so much more spacious than our last place. I was worried that after we got all our stuff inside it wouldn’t feel as big as it initially did, but it totally does!

apt 003

One of my favorite parts of the new place, other than all the space is the built in desk.

apt 030

I love having all my pictures and books and computer set up! It’s my happy place in the apartment!

apt 033

This is also where the blogging magic happens!

apt 031

I love this frame! I saw this sign when fiancé and I were in Boston and it totally just made me laugh! I had to have it! I saw it in Boston and bought it on Etsy! I love it!

I think it’s a great motto to live (and laugh) by!

apt 032

From the desk and front door you look back into the living room and ‘bar’ area.

 apt 036

This is where I max and relax!

apt 039

To the left of where I sit on the couch, close to the door, there is a little built in shelf where we have put some more books, frames and vases. Jackson’s bowls are also in the bottom! Perfect size for him!

apt 040apt 042

To the other side of the bar area is our dining room! It’s so nice to finally have a place to sit down for dinner – I am so excited. My parents brought up this dining room table for us this past weekend and it fits in our space perfectly.

apt 004 apt 013

Through the door to the side of the dining room is the bedroom. I found Jackson hanging on on my chair in there while I was snapping pictures of the tour.

apt 005apt 006

I think he just wanted his picture taken!

apt 008

The bedroom looks pretty much the same as it did in the last apartment, but it is a little bit bigger.

apt 019

Behind the door where you walk in to the bedroom is my race board! I love my special little place in the bedroom to display all my bibs.

The black shelving unit holds all my running stuff for training and races. Its nice to have it all in one place!

apt 015

I love my race board!

apt 016

Here is the rest of the bedroom all set up.

apt 021

We have an even bigger walk in closet, it’s amazing, I am in love with it! Here is my side of the closet. I have a slight obsession with clothes…and shoes…and bags…

apt 018

Next to the walk in closet is the bathroom.

apt 022

Jackson wanted to be in all the pictures today!

Here is the rest of the jack and jill bathroom! You can enter the bathroom from either the bedroom or next to the built in desk. It’s nice to have a sort of circle throughout the house.

apt 025

Can you guess which side is mine??

apt 026

Behind one of the sinks is the washer/dryer and a storage area.

apt 023

Next up is where the magic happens – the kitchen! This is located right across from the dining room.

apt 044

It’s nice and spacious and has lots of shelving room! There is so much more counter space – I am in love!

apt 045  apt 047

So that is pretty much it! We have everything set up for the most part. There are a few pictures and things we still have to set up and a few other things we still need to find a place for but its pretty much all done!

What do you think of our new place?

apt 043

What are your favorite tips or tricks for making a house really a home? I think hanging pictures on the walls make the biggest difference to me. What do you think?

My First Brick

Hi Guys! I am so excited because I just found out that I am competing for MyPHL17’s Best Local Blogger in the 2010 Philly Hot List! I would LOVE your vote!

Click here to vote for And Her Little Dog Too!

***************************************************

Today was a busy day because Kate and I did our first brick workout together!  We decided to brave the heat wave in Philadelphia and take on a little bike/running combo.

Kate came down to East Falls and we headed out on Kelly Drive to tackle the loop on our bikes. Kate rode on my bike and I pedaled on fiancé’s bike. If you have been reading for a while now, you might have noticed that fiancé is a tad taller than me! It was a bit of a struggle, but you got to do what you got to do!

What is a Brick Workout?

“A brick workout is when you do one workout immediately after another. For example, you could do a swim followed by a bike or a bike followed by a run. There is no special way you have to do a brick workout. However, the most effective brick workout is one that most resembles the race you will run. So more than likely you are better served doing a swim to bike or a bike to run brick workout for triathlon prep.”

Fiancé’s bike was so big for me that Kate had to hold the bike straight for me to climb on! Once I was up there, I wasn’t getting off!

taste 454

We still had a blast chatting and pedaling up a storm!

taste 451

This was a great test run for us for the upcoming SheRox Sprint Triathlon that we both signed up for! I am really excited for the running portion and I am feeling good about the biking, but the swimming part makes me nervous!

Oh well, I shall keep calm and swim, bike and run on!

taste 450

On a side note – I biked with my camelbak today. It’s a must have with this crazy weather. Love that thing!

 taste 452

We did pretty awesome on our bike ride today. We did the Kelly Drive loop and then a little extra to round out about 9 miles in 45 minutes, which is pretty good!

The sprint tri is calling for 15.5 mile bike ride, which will be a great challenge! I initially thought it was 13.1 miles, so I was a little surprised when Kate told me it was 15.5! I need to get a few more bike rides in before August 1st!

taste 455

I really hope I can get a proper road bike before the big tri! I love my hybrid, but a road bike would be so much faster! I have an appointment to meet someone this week about a bike I saw on Craigslist! I hope it works out!

taste 456

After dominating our workout on the bike we decided to live dangerously and tackle a short run too!

taste 457

We were ready for the second leg of our brick – Bring It On!

taste 458

We decided to head up the road and change things up a bit and run through Laurel Hill Cemetery.  The last time I went there was with fiancé almost a year ago! It was such a cool place to check out and run through.

Laurel Hill Marketplace 069

We did about 2.5 miles in around 25 minutes. Not too shabby! After the brick I was feeling pretty strong!

Hopefully I can get in a few more brick’s this week and early next week before the big race. It’s fun and a nice change of pace from Marathon Training – its great to have something else to focus on for a few weeks before the big runs start creeping up!

It was awesome to run and bike with Kate today! She is doing great training for her first big endurance event! I am so proud of her, she is going to rock the tri with me!

What are your thoughts on brick workouts? Ever done one?
