Lusting after LUSH

I am in love with LUSH products. They smell amazing, they feel amazing, I think they are great products.

Yesterday I went on a little shopping date with Lauren and we hit up a bunch of stores – one of which being Lush in Center City.

DSC_0570

I picked up a few different goodies that I wanted to share with my readers!

First I picked up a solid shampoo bar in the Godiva scent. I was very intrigued by these bars because they are supposed to last for over 80 washes, which I think is pretty awesome!

DSC_0556

It is made of cocoa and shea butters which combine to create a rich, thick feel to the lather. They combination also moisturizes the hair follicles and condition to make hair soft.

It is jasmine scented and smells amazing.

Side Note: Godiva is named after the woman who famously rode through the streets of Coventry with only her long flowing locks to cover her modesty. She was protesting against the taxes which her husband was planning to introduce

DSC_0557DSC_0558

I also picked up a Too Drunk Emotibomb, not to cure any possibly future hangovers, but to ward off a pending sickness. With my first marathon a few days away, and the weather being a little crazy, I picked up this little number to help if I was starting to feel icky.

DSC_0559

This Emotibomb is made with fennel and peppermint oil. The deep aroma of fennel brings concentration and focus back to the mind and peppermint for pain relief and reducing mental fatigue.

DSC_0560

You toss this on the floor of the shower and let the aromatherapy help you feel better! I might bring this to Chicago because I tend to get head colds when I travel!

Better safe than sorry!

DSC_0561DSC_0562

I also picked up a T’eo deodorant bar too. I have been wanting to explore other deodorant options because I have heard than natural options are better for women, I forget where, but just something I heard. I am still going to use my regular stuff for exercising, but I wanted to see how this goes.

DSC_0554

This bar is filled with lemongrass, juniper berry, tea tree and lemon essential oils help to combat bacteria and microbes.

The bar itself is magnesium carbonate which is a solid, white mineral, and frequently occurs in nature mixed with calcite, forming dolomite or dolomitic limestone deposits. It acts as a perfume carrier in T’Eo.

It’s also vegan!

DSC_0555

My most favorite thing from LUSH is their Bath Bomb – and my most favoritest (is that a word? because it should be!) scent is Honey Bee. Oh me, oh my it smells like heaven!

DSC_0569

I really love all the fresh products that Lush has to offer. There really are some different, fun products to try there.

DSC_0565

While some of the products can be a little on the more expensive side, I really like buying gifts at Lush, or treating myself to something fun there once in a while!

DSC_0566

Are you a LUSH fan? What’s your favorite product? What do they have there that you would want to try?

Oh She Glows Bars

Have you ever had a Glo Bar?

jacksons 4 095

I got to try my first one in my Healthy Living Summit swag bag last month, and let’s just say it definitely lives up to the hype!

jacksons 4 096

I have been a fan of Angela and her blog for a while now, and I know how much love and effort goes into these little bars. She does an amazing job, so when I found a Glo bar in my swag bag, I knew I had to keep it safe until I got home and could have a special moment with this prized possession!

jacksons 4 097

I packed the bar with socks around it so it wouldn’t break on the plane ride! Thankfully it made it home safe and sound.

jacksons 4 107

I was very excited to try out the Empower bar – which is flavored with a energizing organic dark roast coffee and dark chocolate.

jacksons 4 108

Each bar is packed with hemp seed, flax seed, coconut, natural peanut butter and 20 mg of caffeine!

jacksons 4 109

This bar was nothing short of amazing. It was soft and chewy and full of flavor!

jacksons 4 110jacksons 4 113

I was so happy that I saved this bar to enjoy quietly at home! It was quite a treat!

jacksons 4 111

Are you a Glo Bar fan? What’s your favorite flavor?

jacksons 4 114

***Side Note*** I ate this bar right after I got home from the HLS, not over a month later! 🙂

My First Yucca Root

The other day at Reading Terminal Market I picked up a few things I had never tried before. One of those things was the yucca root. I didn’t know what I was going to make with it and it doesn’t look like something too appetizing but I wanted to try something new.

DSC_0450 DSC_0451

This little guy has a lot of health benefits – it is packed with nutrients, including fiber, vitamins A, B, and C, calcium, iron, potassium, and manganese. It has also been known to help with inflammation,  aid digestion, prevent harmful bacteria in the intestines from absorbing into the blood, reduce muscle spasms, and improve blood circulation. One website even said he helps promote shiny, healthy hair! Woohoo!

DSC_0453

I took a twitter vote as to what to make with my yucca and the results were unanimous – Yucca Fries!

DSC_0472

In order to make the fries, I had to peel down the yucca root.

DSC_0473

The outside layer reminds me of tree bark!

DSC_0474 DSC_0475

A naked yucca. The little guy looks cold, doesn’t it?

DSC_0476

Then it was time so slice and dice!

DSC_0478  DSC_0479

I chopped it up into fry looking slices.

DSC_0481 DSC_0482 DSC_0483

Then it was onto a baking sheet they went.

DSC_0486  DSC_0487

But not before I drizzled them with a little spicy peanut goodness.

DSC_0488 DSC_0489DSC_0490

I baked them in the oven at 400* for about 40 minutes, or until they were crispy to my satisfaction.

And….VOILA! We have yucca fries!

DSC_0498

These things were amazing. They were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The spicy peanut twist gave them a little kick and made them even more awesome!

DSC_0500

These might be my new favorite fry! My sweet potato fries have been my favorite for some time, now, but there is a few fry in town!

Does anyone else have any other yucca recipes for me next time I buy it? I want to make more fun things with the yucca root!
