I hope everyone is having a fabulous Thanksgiving today! There is so much I am thankful for and its nice to spend the day with family.
Fiancé and I got up bright and early this morning and made the 2.5 hour trek down to my parents house in Virginia to spend the Holiday weekend. We have spent the past 2 Thanksgivings with his family so this year we had to change things up a bit and head down to mine.
It was an uneventful ride. I kept myself entertained on Twitter where I got word that it was snowing some flurries in Philadelphia for the parade this morning!
When we pulled into the driveway in Virginia we were immediate greeted by my family with food – and lots of it! We have pretty much been eating and drinking the entire day, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
We started off with some appetizers of kielbasa which is a type of Polish sausage. We pretty much have this at every holiday. It’s awesome.
My dad gets kielbasa from his cousins out in Northern Pennsylvania.
I enjoy mine on a Triscut with some horseradish sauce. Yum!
I forgot to start taking pictures until after we were halfway through the appetizers! I was too hungry! Whoops! Here is what it sort of looked like.
I love enjoying this polish treat with a drink while catching up with the fam.
Thumbs up!
Jackson is not too much of a beggar, but when he knows there is something awesome on the table, he will stare at it with sad puppy eyes.
Cheers to Thanksgiving in Virginia!
While we enjoyed our appetizers the turkey was cooking away.
Everything was cooking away so nicely in the kitchen, I snuck away from the fun to have a little photo shoot with the dining room.
What a beautiful place to dine!
I love how my mom set the table. So elegant.
All the table needs is some turkey!
After getting a sneak peak of the dining room, I helped my mom in the kitchen.
While the boys watched football. Standard.
Jackson hung out with his grandpa
Jackson loves coming to Virginia because he has so much space to run around
He also gets lots of extra love here too!
Back to the bird!
For Thanksgiving in our family we have early appetizers followed by an early dinner. We skip lunch on Thanksgiving!
My mom pretty much makes the entire meal herself. She is a machine.
Fun in the kitchen with the ‘rents. Always a good time.
Dad’s job every year is to cut the turkey.
Jackson patiently waits for something (anything!) to drop.
This year my mom got a 12 pound turkey, which I find hilarious because that is heavier than Jackson! Ha!
Ready to slice and dice
Jackson and I were there for emotional support.
Just out of reach
Love the cook!
The fine china we use for the Holidays and special occasions is my parents wedding china. I think its so classic and pretty!
Let’s take a tour of the set table, shall we?
Mashed sweet potato and corn
Jackson and fiancé taking in the table
Cranberry sauce. Because no Thanksgiving is complete without it.
Green bean casserole
Gravy. Obviously.
Love me some old sterling silver from many years ago!
Time to pour the wine and sit down for dinner.
Jackson was sad he didn’t have a seat at the table.
Cheers to Thanksgiving dinner!
Here is what my plate looked like. It had a little bit of everything.
Everything was delicious! Hats off to the chef!
Jackson eventually found himself a chair in the corner. He likes to sit and be able to watch what was going on.
Time for some eating action shots, wouldn’t you say?
In attendance were both my parents.
As well as Fiancé, my brother and my uncle!
It was a fabulous Thanksgiving! Everything tasted awesome and I had a great time hanging out with my family!
Now it’s time to go enjoy some dessert and then we are off to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1! Can’t wait!
What did you do for Thanksgiving today?
