What’s Next On The Agenda?

Since I am fresh off the boat of running 2 marathons in one month (yes, I know I am crazy!), I have had a lot of readers asking me: “What’s Next for Leslie And Her Little Dog Too?”

I would like to be honest with you and say that I really don’t know.

I ran 2 marathons back to back with the mentality that I wouldn’t want to run for a while after finishing, and while that is somewhat true I can’t honestly say that I might have something else up my sleeve in the coming month or two. But that all comes down to timing, so I shall keep you posted!

Training for my marathons this Fall made me longing for days where I could sit on the couch and not worry about lacing up my sneakers for a run, but fresh from crossing the finish line on Sunday leaves me wanting to sign up for a million marathons. A good race definitely helps you forgot about all the blood, sweat and tears that it took to get you to your happy race place!

One thing I DO know is that I will not be planning on any big marathon length runs this Spring. I am not that fond of training in cold, winter weather and I have my upcoming wedding this May to focus on! Priorities people! :)

On my race wish list – I would like to run the Cherry Blossom 10 miler this Spring because of a few reasons – it is held in my hometown and 10 mile races are my happy distance! I know that race fills up fast, so I am hoping to get in early! Fingers Crossed!

The next big marathon I have my sights set on is the Marine Corps. Marathon in DC. Again, location is important for this one because my family is down that way, its also not to far from Philly and it’s supposed to be a pretty sweet race too! Looks like a lot of fun and it’s held during a gorgeous time of year down in the Nation’s Capital!

Do you have a running race wish list?

My big plans for the rest of the year which will hopefully keep going into 2011 is to focus more (A LOT MORE!) on yoga and weight training. I still want to keep running, just not as much as I have been the past few months. Running to run is one thing, running to marathon train is a whole different beast!

I want to focus on yoga and weight training as a way to tone for my upcoming wedding day and also to help with flexibility, strength and overall recovery from big races (like this weekend). They are both things I want to focus more on, but since marathon training has been such a big part of my life, they have been put on the backburner, but now I would like to bring them back!

Does anyone have any good strength training words of wisdom for me? If you have an awesome plan/routine I would love for you to share it with me!

I am also in the process of looking for a good yoga studio that is near where I live and convenient to work and school. If any of my Philly friends know any good yoga studios in the area, send some info my way please!

What is something you have put on the backburner that you would like to bring back into your life?

Hey girl. As for yoga studios, if you live closer to west philly like I do, a great one is Studio 34. They have a great first month unlimited rate, and since your also a student its additional percentage off. I think i paid $40 for my first month unlimited.

if you live in center city its an easy trolley ride up the 34 line. Its not terribly expensive and the people that go there are great yogis! Right now actually at Lululemon, if you go there and "check in on facebook" they will give you a free pass to Dhanya yoga or wake up yoga. Dhanya I haven't tried yet but it's a little more expensive than studio 34. It also has 4 locations so I'm sure they have something close to what part of the city is convenient to you. I did get the free pass from Lululemon to go there though so I am looking forward to that. If you go with the fiance you can get one of each and try them both out and see which ones you like.

If you are looking for general fitness to get in shape, you can't go wrong with CrossFit. I am a coach at CrossFit King of Prussia and can bring you in for a free intro class. (www.crossfitkop.com) Depending on where you live, there is also CF 215 in Manayunk, CF Center City, and CF DelVal in Broomall. All good people with great communities similar to the feel of Villanova community, plus getting in great shape!

I used to take boxing and it got me in the best shape of my life! I think I might join my gym again to take it. I really miss punching things :)

And I agree with the CrossFit suggestion. I take CrossFit twice a week and if you want to get ripped – tis the sport for you :)

I would really like to bring Pilates back into my life. I used to really enjoy it but I haven't done it for years!

I would also like to be more consistant with my workouts.

Your wedding is coming up so soon! How exciting!

Congrats on both marathons and good luck with upcoming training – and your wedding!!!

  8. Tina @ Faith Fitness Fun

I feel you on the high of an event day making you want to sign up again pronto. I agree its smart not to though if you have all the other stuff coming up.

I LOVE weight training. I can't wait to get back to it after I have my baby in January. I really like doing full body circuit style workouts 2-3x/week.

My friends and I are hoping to run the Cherry Blossom 10-miler too! We're tracking out miles together on our blog http://bymontherun.blogspot.com

    Great work on your marathons!

If you can, hire a trainer for a month or two before your wedding. It was the best thing I ever did- my arms were super toned before my big day.
