Favorite Reads

Since I leave on my trip in a less than a week, I am in the process of deciding what I will be bringing with me for entertainment. It has been a while since I have purchased a new book and I wanted to see if anyone had any favorite reads recommendations for me.

Here is what is on my bookshelf:

My favorite list of running reads includes these fine page turners – specifically Born to Run and A Race Like No Other.

A few of my healthy living books include these amazing reads – Obviously Operation Beautiful and Animal Vegetable Miracle are high up on that list.

Did you know I am a big Harry Potter and Twilight fan? I love both of these book series very much – Harry Potter just a tad more because I seriously wish I had magic powers – how awesome would that be?

And don’t even get me started on all the amazing cookbooks I have in my possession! There are too many to choose from!

But I will try – Here are some of my favorites, specifically Clean Food, Pioneer Woman Cooks, Cake Pops and Giada at Home.

Cookbooks are so pretty, aren’t they?

And here are just a few of my latest reading for pleasure books –  I have a deep love for the Jen Lancaster books – I got to meet her last year! I also like to  read books about Mt. Everest, support other bloggers, like Danny Evans and The Time Traveler’s Wife is one of my favorite books ever!

And while we are discussing favorite reads – any other bride to be’s out there? Here are some of my favorite wedding reads!

Those are just some of my recent reads and what I currently have on my bookshelf. Most of my books are at my parents house in Virginia, but I try to keep my favorite ones with me!

Do you have any reading suggestions for me? Either regular books or ebooks? What is your ultimate favorite book of all time?

If you were stuck on a desert island with only one book to read for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

I am not sure if it’s fair to ask you to pick a favorite if I am not sure that I can, but my top 3 all time favorite reads include – The Red Tent, The Pact, She’s Come Undone

Help me pick a good book or two (or three) to read on my trip!

I always recommend The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. It's a light, easy read that's quite entertaining! If you want something that is heavier, but an excellent read, I recommend Wally Lamb's The Hour I First Believed. It has some true life events woven throughout a fictional tale. It took the author 10 years to complete the book. For suspenseful novels, anything by Lisa Gardner is fantastic! I've been doing the audio book thing with her novels lately!

Oh…I'm currently reading my first Jen Lancaster book – Such a Pretty Fat – so far, it's great! Glad to see others like her, as well!

    Enjoy your trip! =)

Not even gonna lie but it looks like we have the same taste in books. I love the twilight books and just finished the harry Potter series. Loved it tremendously.
Have you read "Something Blue" and "Something Borrowed"? I think since we like the same books you might like those. I just recommende them to a coworker who is devouring them as we speak 🙂

If you want another running related book, I really recommend Haruki Murakami's What I Talk About When I Talk About Running. It's an easy read and made me really appreciate running!

An old school encylcopedia so I could learn how to get out!

…or a book on building rafts!

Check out Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen. I loved it. It's a really quick and engaging read. They're making it into a movie (staring Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon), but I know it'll never compare to how great the book is.

I loved Water for Elephants and right now I can't put down the Story of Edgar Sawtelle. I also have Animal, Vegetable, Miracle on hold at the library.

I would look into The Girl With the Dragon Tatoo and the two books that came after it. I had a hard time getting into the first while on vacation, but after 120 pages, I was hooked! The wait was worth it!!

If I could only have one book EVER it would be The Brothers Karamazov. Currently in the middle of reading it again……when I pick it up I'm always reminded of how much I love it.

I like: Miles from Nowhere by Barbara Savage, any of the Sue Grafton novels, A if for Alibi, etc. Very light reads. Or the Patricia Cornwell novels (Kay Scarpetta main character). Can you tell I'm a mystery fan? Since you love your little dog, you might enjoy A Dog Year by Jon Katz. Have a great trip!

I'm reading a book called "From Prison Camp to Caviar", a biography about a woman's life. So far it's a really good book and very well written. I also met the author, am amazing woman.
