Our XRail Tour in Cozumel, Mexico

After our fun morning in Cozumel, fiancé and I took off for an even more fun afternoon on a shore excursion with the ship.

Since I have been to Cozumel before, fiancé was in charge of picking the shore excursion for the day. If it was up to me, I would have picked a lovely and relaxing snorkeling experience that involved beach time.

But the choice was not mine to make.

Since it was up to fiancé, he was all about picking something extreme. Something that possibly resembled a video game experience.

Something that involved helmets. And mud.

And muddy helmets.

Fiancé and I were going to embark on a an XRail Expedition.

We took an XRail buggy on an off-road adventure through the Cozumel jungle.

I saw the group that went before us and the state of our XRail, and I knew that this was going to be an adventure.

Fiancé was excited to drive this thing.

I was a bit nervous because I didn’t know what to expect of the ride.

But we were ready to roll!

cruiseplus 979

Seriously, how fierce do we look in these helmets and goggles?

Before I knew it, we were off going through the jungle of Cozumel. The path was very bumpy and was very muddy.

Did I mention it was muddy?

I think fiancé took pleasure in going though the muddy parts on my side because he was no where near as muddy as I was!

It was a crazy, dusty, muddy, dirty adventure.

And a fabulous way to spend the day!

Our guide called the bumpy roads a “Mexican massage” which I thought was funny. My booty was hurting by the end of the trip!

I embraced the mud. This is like a spa treatment people pay for, right?

So where were we going in our XRails? We were making our way to Jade Caverns which was in the heart of the jungle.

Jade Caverns holds water that goes down 40 ft. deep. It also is home to both salt and fresh water and was believed to be a special place for the Mayan people. Apparently Mayan princesses were sacrificed here, so our guide Roberto told us.

On the other side of this rock formation is a bat cave. We saw the bats flying around, which was kind of freaky.

Some of the people in our tour took a dip in the cave waters (which was cold and smelled like rotten eggs)

I did not partake in taking a full dip in the waters, but I did sit on the side and put my feet in.

Fiancé was more adventurous than me. He jumped in like a champ!

“When in Rome,” right?

Fiancé may have smelled like rotten eggs for the rest of the day, but he said it was worth it.

We had a great time on this fabulous tour! If you ever are in Cozumel and looking for something fun and adventurous to do, definitely check this option out. You will have an awesome time!

Gah! That looks like so much fun! Muddy fun. 🙂 Love it. I'd want to do that if I ever went.

Wow, that side trips looks amazing! I never would have thought that you would get all muddy and dirty, but if you think of it as a mud bath, then it works for me! You really should have gone in the sulphur bath with fiance, I hear that's good for your skin too! Next time I'm in Cozumel, I'll have to try that side trip!

OMG! Thank you so much for this info! Hubby and I were looking over the excursions for our cruise in March, and this looked like so much fun…..You just clinched it! And I really needed to see how muddy you got, too……cuz I was thinking it was gonna be just a LITTLE dirt! Thanks!

This looked awesome……and yeah, I think I might have to take the plunge at the end, too! lol

Our other excursion in Costa Maya will be the Chacchoben Mayan ruins…..have you been? Or what other excursions have you been on? I’m actually booking today…..but I could switch if there’s something really awesome! lol
