I know I must have had everyone drooling yesterday with my lovely cake balls post. I was drooling writing it! The cake balls might be my new favorite indulgence. They are bite sized and offer the perfect little sweet treat. Expect too see them lots more in the future!
Aside from the cake balls, I brought another fun little treat to Christmas Eve in New Jersey and Christmas Day in Virginia – Peppermint Bark.
While I was melting up a storm dipping cake balls in candy coating, I realized I had lots of melting chocolate left over and I wanted to do something special with it. Also, I knew that if I kept the chocolate around I would most likely eat it myself, and I have a wedding coming up to look amazing for so we can’t just leave rouge chocolate around the house. That just won’t do!
This was my first time making peppermint bark and it could not have been simpler. The cake balls were pretty easy to make, yet time consuming, but the peppermint bark pretty much made itself.
All I did was melt chocolate, pour it into a pan with wax paper, mix in the tiny shavings of candy canes and then add the big pieces on top. Let sit to harden and cool and then break apart. That’s it!
It turned our great, tasted amazing and I was pretty happy with my presentation
You know how much I love my Ball jars, they pretty much make anything look adorable. I put the bigger pieces of bark, alternating milk chocolate and white chocolate, inside the ball jars
Tied some pretty ribbon around it and it was good to go!
I put the smaller more bite sized pieces in a cute little snowflake tin. They were easier to eat at the Christmas Eve party.
Can’t you just smell the chocolate-peppermint goodness?
It was so easy to make and it looked so cute and festive – what’s not to love about peppermint bark?
Have you ever made peppermint bark before? I bet some fun things to add to the bark mixture would be – nuts, coconut, any sort of candy – pretty much the sky is the limit! Yum!
What would you add to the bark to personalize it and make it your own?

I've never had peppermint bark! Looks amazing though! I would definitely add some kind of nut to the mix. That sounds yummy!
