Good morning! I forgot to share with you the fact that this weekend fiancé and I took down our Christmas tree! I am a big believer in real trees, I love the smell, look and the feel of a real tree – but it is a bit of a pain to take down!  Who doesn’t love a good before & after picture of our tree?

Here is what the Christmas tree area looked like before:

And now we look like this!

And after! Its so much brighter and I feel like we have so much more room now!  Looking at all that space makes me feel like I can take a deep breath and relax!

I also feel like I need to put something up on the wall in that corner. It looks a bit too empty now!

Where did I put all the Christmas decorations do you ask? Well they are all packed up in the corner and I will be sending them home with my mom in a few weeks. My parents are nice enough to store our holiday decor in their basement in Virginia since we don’t have much room for storage in our apartment. Thanks Mom & Dad! 🙂

In other news I wanted to talk about an issue I have been having lately – The Hangover. This is not your typical type of hangover because no alcohol is involved, but it is the feeling of being hungover, without actually being hungover. Do you follow that?

A few times recently I have been walking up feeling hungover when I haven’t had a drop of alcohol the night before. Anyone else experience this?

I know you are supposed to drink Eight 8 oz glasses of water a day, and I feel like I do a good job of keeping myself hydrated a lot throughout the day with my favorite Thermos bottle.  I also have a sparkling water addiction, specifically this Pomegranate Polar seltzer.

This drink is one of my new favorite things.

I tweeted my issues with this problem earlier and some suggestions were too much sleep (but I got 8 hours last night), too much sodium (I don’t drink anything other than seltzer and water and the occasional juice), or not drinking enough water (but I don’t think that’s it either).

Does anyone else have this issue or any suggestions as to how to avoid waking up this way? It’s no fun to start the day feeling bad and Jackson doesn’t like when I wake up with a headache!

My new goal is to try to do a better job of monitoring my water intake and hopefully that will help! Any other thoughts on the matter? Let me know if you have any words of wisdom for me! 🙂

I am the worst person in the world about drinking water. Before getting pregnant, I drank 1 cup of coffee a day. That was my TOTAL liquid intake. Now…I make it up to about 32 oz of fluid. Which is still horrific. People have told me to try straws?

I just voted for Jackson 🙂

I often get that hangover feeling when I sleep too much. If I more than 8 hours I have a feeling like that all day long.

Have you increased your sugar intake? Changed your sleeping patterns?

Perhaps logging those things for the next week or so you can get to the bottom of it.

What exactly do you mean by the hangover feeling? Is it just being tired and a headache or are you feeling sick to your stomach too?

During the winter months I been having problems waking up tired and with a headache. What has worked for me is turning on a humidifier while I sleep. The dry air in my condo was a big factor and when I have the humidifier on it makes a big differene in how I feel in the morning.

Maybe is a sugar, caffeine withdrawal problem. I too have noticed having more headaches lately and I think it was do to my eating too much sugar over the holidays and then eating less. It takes a few days for your body to adjust. Think about your sugar/caffeine intake over the past month. If all else fails, get a check-up at your primary doctor.

OMG…I have no solution (sorry), but I am sooo glad I am not the only person who has that happen! When it has happened to me I have just assumed that I am burning the candle at both ends and that is my body's way of telling me to slow down, eat better, exercise more, drink water and take my daily vitamins!

In all seriousness, though, have you had your vitamin D levels checked? Many women have problems with low vitamin D which impacts energy (because of the whole calcium/iron connection). And with less sun hours in the winter…it's a simple blood test.

Good call on getting the Vitamin D levels checked! I need to remember to take more vitamins anyway!
