A Case of the Monday’s

A case of the Monday’s is actually one thing I DO NOT have today! I had an awesomely productive day today. It was filled with cardio class, meetings, yoga class and lots of planning. Some good stuff going on in my life right about now, lots to be excited about!

Here is what my Monday evening is shaping up to look like –

I enjoyed a lovely green drink in a fancy margarita glass.

It’s my own little version of Margarita Monday!

I also had a serious craving for cupcakes today, so I went to the store, bought a little box and now I can calm my craving!

Carrot cake cupcakes with butter cream icing. That’s how I roll.

I make cupcakes because they are easier to portion control! Got to keep Operation: Hot Bride going strong!

I enjoyed my green monster margarita and my carrot cupcake (not in the same sitting!) with a side of roses!

Don’t worry – they are Jackson approved!

Fiancé surprised me with roses because I have been dealing with some wedding stress lately. These last 2.5 months are going to be crazy with planning all the final details of the big day – it’s a lot to handle!

We are currently struggling with trying to pick out our wedding song – which is a lot harder than it sounds!

We both want something that isn’t obviously a wedding song, but its hard to discover a song like that. We are sorting through some soft and classic rock options along with a country song or too. We are having a hard time picking it out and we need to finalize one soon so we can schedule our dancing lessons!

Do you have any wedding song suggestions? What was your wedding song or what will it be? Any thoughts or suggestions will be appreciated!

Now I am off to cuddle up with this guy –

It’s Bachelor and Gossip Girl time!

Got Green?

I make green monsters look good! 🙂

This morning I started off my day with my new standard green juice mix – kale, apples, celery, cucumber – all the good stuff you saw in my Juicing 101 video.

I enjoy drinking my green monsters, juices and smoothies out of big fun glasses – check out the size of the wine glass I used today – It’s almost as big as my Vita-Mix!

Mmm…frothy and glorious!

A few more size comparison pictures:

No better way to start the day than with a big ‘ol green drink! I am sure Kris Carr would agree!

I was inspired by my big green beverage so I decided to have a little photo shoot with it ( I really just wanted to prance around the apartment holding the big wine glass at 7 in the morning…I felt fancy.)

I think we should replace the ‘Got Milk?’ adds with ‘Got Green?’

Let’s face it, we all need some more green in our lives!

Wouldn’t you agree?

I am off to start my week with some kickboxing, yoga and work!

Happy Green Drinking!

It’s (Bridal) Shower Time!

I am so excited because this weekend I picked up my mail and received invitations to TWO different bridal showers – both FOR ME!

I am so lucky to have such great people in my life. The first shower is in two weeks and that is in Virginia with family and friends down South.

The second show is in a month in Pennsylvania which is being given to me by Fiancé’s two aunts. I am so lucky to have 2 separate showers so my family and friends from both areas can be a part of celebrating with me.

This is how I feel about my two showers:

I am so excited for my showers in March I can barely contain myself! Getting the shower invites makes the fast approaching wedding so real.

(Side Note: Addresses and phone numbers covered up for privacy)

Is it March 12th and March 26th yet?!?

Was your weekend as exciting as mine?

Congrats to everyone running the Disney Princess Half Marathon today! I had a blast running it last year (and even RE-PR’d – to the second!) – it was a fun race with lots of pink, what’s not to love about that?

In other news – check out today’s Eversave Deal! Get $60 of wine delivered to your doorstep for $27! I bought this deal before and it was pretty awesome!

Favorite Things Friday

Favorite Things Fridayyyyyy time! My work schedule (and what I am doing for for my job) has completely changed for the better so I am currently operating at a little different schedule than normal. Lots of exciting things going on in my little world – can’t wait to fill you in on more!

But first things first – my favorite’s for the week!

I am loving my new notebook for work. I picked it up from Target- I love all the colors, it’s so festive and it makes me happy!

It’s from the French Bulldog line by Jackie Shapiro.

Next up is a little random, but I had to share. I recently picked up the Scrubbing Bubbles Toilet Cleaning Gel and wand. I know some friends who have used it and had good experiences.

In Philly, our water is super hard so that leaves our toilet with gross rings around it all the time, no matter how much I clean it, they are always there! I have been using this gel for the past 2 weeks and it has been amazing!

You stick the gel that comes out of the wand in the toilet by the top and the gel works with each flush to keep the toilet bowl super clean. No more toilet rings in our apartment!

Might be a little random and off topic, but this thing totally works and it definitely earned a space as one of my favorite things for the week!

My latest hair care obsession is from the Wen line of hair care.  It is a  5-in-1 formula, that takes the place of your shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner, detangler and leave-in conditioner.

It cleanses your hair without lathering and it doesn’t strip your hair and scalp of its natural oils. It feels like a lotion that you put on your hair. I am a serious lover of conditioners, I can’t get out of the shower without conditioning, but this bad boy really does work fabulously as a conditioner too!

Did I mention the scents are amazing? I have Pomegranate and Sweet Almond Mint. I sort of want to lick the bottles because they smell that good.

Happy hair makes me happy!

The newest book on my bookshelf this week is Alicia Silverstone’s The Kind Diet: A Guide to Feeling Great, Losing Weight and Saving the Planet.

I ordered this book because I  was very interested in Alicia’s vegetarian options, I had heard great things about them!

Everything in the book looks very yummy!

And who doesn’t love Alicia Silverstone? She rocked it out in Clueless!

My last favorite thing for the week is my flower headband. I wore it all weekend in Vermont a few weeks ago and am obsessed. It has been the perfect weather for it too!

I own it in cream and grey. What a fabulous purchase from a mall kiosk!

What are some of your favorite things for the week?

This week I have a BONUS Favorite Things Friday for you! I usually share 5 things on Friday so consider this a little extra! 🙂

I was recently introduced to a pretty awesome online site – Ebates! Ebates is the pioneer and leader of online Cash Back Shopping. All you do is sign up (for free) and then shop online – Ebates has over 1,200 stores and coupons online and you get a % cash back for your entire purchase at each store.

It sounds like a scam, but I can attest that you actually get money for shopping – they will send you a check or you can transfer the $ to your paypal account. It is a pretty sweet deal! I believe you get $5 just for signing up too!

Are you an Ebates user?

Falling (Back) in Love with Running

Today I fell back in love with running.

This is due in large part to the fact that I was able to run outside for the first time since probably before the New York Marathon! Yes, it has been THAT long since I have run outside (I am a wimp when it comes to running in the cold)

I had been planning to run outside today all week. It was going to be cold, but not too cold, not windy and a tad sunny. Perfect conditions to brave the winter elements for a run!

I hit the pavement and I started flying…

And it was amazing. I know I got so bored of Kelly Drive during marathon training this past Fall but I missed running here this winter!

I don’t have too much winter running gear (because I try to avoid it!) but I am happy to report that I dressed perfectly for the occasion – and my feet were happy to be running on the sidewalk again (the treadmill hurts my knees!)

I was representin’ with my Abercrombie pants, circa 1990!

These bad boys are FIERCE!

I had some minor issues pre-run that I had to deal with. I forgot to charge my Garmin, because it had been sitting in my drawer for 2 months, and apparently it reset itself. I couldn’t figure out how to get the settings back the way I like them – displaying time, distance and pace – it took a while but I figured it out.

I also couldn’t locate my shuffle, so I rocked out to Britney Spears on my Ipod Touch – a tad bigger, but it got the job done.

Other than getting off to a rocky start, it was a gorgeous day.

Still some snow on the ground, but its melting more and more everyday. Hopefully we are done with snow for the season, because I sent my winter coat back to VA with my parents last weekend!

I got a little camera happy because I was so happy to be running outside again – took lots of pictures on this run!

IMG_0488 IMG_0489 IMG_0490 IMG_0491

Side Note – Did you know I ALWAYS run with water? I am sort of a freak about it – can’t run without it. I am always fearful that I will need it if I don’t have it so I always run with it on me. Hydration is key! 🙂

Loved seeing the green on the ground on top of the hill in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Spring is right around the corner!

I came home and was pooped! 4 miles in 37 minutes after not running outside (or much at all really) for a few months! Booo-YAH!

Then I got attacked by Jackson! He hearts salty sweat. What a freak!

It felt amazing to get out there and run outside again. I hope the weather stays nice and mild so I can get my run on outside again soon.

I am officially back in love with running…and it feels amazing!

Purple People Eater

Can you believe I have never made a fruit smoothie with my Vita-Mix? I have made incredible soups and loads of green monsters, but no fruit smoothies! This morning I had to fix that!

I enjoyed a banana, blueberry and strawberry smoothie.

To give the smoothie a little kick I added some vanilla almond Vega that I received at the Healthy Living Summit this past summer. This stuff is one of my favorite protein powders! Yum!

All in the Vita-Mix with some ice and almond milk.

I heart my blender.

I enjoy drinking smoothies out of beer glasses, not sure why, but to me its so much more fun!

I loved the purple color of this smoothie. Made me so excited for Spring!

Now I am off to go for my first run outside in a long time! It has been so cold and snowy here I have been sticking to the treadmill but I need to get outside and hit that pavement to prepare for the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler in a few weeks! Got to get my run on!

Don’t forget to nominate your favorite female blogger (including yourself!!!) for the Women’s Health Blog Roll!

Congratulations – You’re In!

I love getting emails that look like this:

Today was a good day. I have had marked on my calendar for MONTHS the date the Marine Corps Marathon registration for the 2011 race opened up! Last year the race sold out in 6 days I believe, so this year I wanted to be one of the first to register to make sure I got in.

The registration was supposed to open at noon, but I logged on a little early today (11:45 am) and was able to register quickly and easily. Love it when that happens!

The Marine Corps. Marathon has been on my radar for a while now. It is even on my Marathon List! It is supposed to be an amazing race and it’s close to where my parents live so I will be sure to have a good support system there, which is SO important when running 26.2 miles!

I am excited to start training for my 3rd Marathon (after the wedding and once we get back from the honeymoon!) and pumped to get my race on down in DC on Oct, 30th! Any of my blog friends/readers running Marine Corps?

In other news – tonight we are watching Waiting for Superman. Here is the synopsis of the movie:

“Davis Guggenheim (An Inconvenient Truth) weaves together the stories of students, families, educators and reformers to shed light on the failing public school system and its consequences on the future of the United States. In this Sundance Audience Award winner for Best Documentary, Guggenheim deftly examines the options to improve public education and provide America’s teachers and students with the help they need”

Supposed to be an amazing movie! Anyone seen it or have any thoughts on the issues the movie touches upon?
