This morning I woke up bright and early and laced up my running shoes to run the Haddonfield Adrenaline 5K!
Part of my new job is to be out and about in the community so today I got to hang out with other local runners and get my sweat on!
The race started and ended at the Haddonfield High school, which is where Charles went to school!
I had to go inside and get a sneak peak at what his high school life might have looked like
After frolicking around the school grounds it was time to get our run on!
The race route took us down the main street in Haddonfield, right past our new store and then through some back roads where we got to see a bit of the homes in the area.
It turned out being a pretty nice sized 5k run today – there were cash prizes for the winners so people were out there to WIN! I think there were close to 900 runners in total.
Shelsea and I ran this race together – it was her first race ever so I was excited to be able to be able to experience it with her.
We were all decked out in our lululemon attire, ready to go!
I hung out near the start line but it got crowded fast
Runners of all ages and abilities were ready to run the streets of Haddonfield!
On your marks, get set, gooooo!
There were lots of people running today, but everything spread out super fast so I never felt crowded or rushed in any way.
Before I knew it, we were running right by our new store!
Before we knew it, our first mile had gone by!
Then it was time for a little water action.
And then back to keep on pounding the pavement.
I enjoyed this race a ton because I was just there to have fun – no time pressure or anything, just running to run. Shelsea had set a goal that she wanted to run 31 minutes or under, so it was my job to help her keep pace during the race.
I did my job with a smile on my face!
I love road races in small towns. Its so fun to hang out on the main street with a bunch of other runners!
Shelsea killed it at the end and finished super strong with a nice sprint!
We crossed the finish line with smiles on our faces and beating the goal – our finish time 29:34 with an average pace of 9:32!
I think I secretly got Shelsea hooked on running races!
After the race I had a little snacky snack of a water and banana.
Then we took some celebratory pictures at the Finish line!
It was a really great race overall. I had a ton of fun running in my new work community and hanging out in Haddonfield on this gorgeous Saturday morning! It was also fun to accompany Shelsea on her first race!
I am usually not a fan of 5K races because they are just over so fast and I am usually training for something longer, paying to run 3.1 miles, which is something I would run on my own most days doesn’t make sense to me. But I am glad I ran today because it made me enjoy the 5K distance so much more!
If you would like to check out my other race recaps be sure to check out my other 5K races – I ran the New York Road Runner 5K in 2009 (27:40), the Main Line 5K (23:58) and the Cherry Blossom 5K last year where I PR’d (22:26) and got 2nd place!
