A Friendly 14

Today Lauren and I headed out for a 14 mile marathon training run. We started our run a little later in the morning so we decided to head out to Forbidden Drive for some shade.

Lauren told me she was thinking it of more as the two of us hanging out for a few hours than actually running 14 miles for 2+ hours.

I very much enjoy that way of thinking. I believe it really helped our running vibe!

Lauren and I went over the river and (literally) threw the woods on this run.

It was fabulous to run on the trail – much easier on the shins for me!

It was so much fun to catch up with Lauren – we chatted for miles and miles and took a few breaks for some photo ops!

Running with my blogger buddy is SO much more fun than running alone!

It was a gorgeous day in Wissahickon – not too hot with a little breeze. Perfect summer running weather!

Obviously, Lauren and I had our sights set on some jumping shots on this run. It’s sort of something we always have to do whenever we are together.

Jumping shots rule!

I’m pretty pumped we got such sweet air in this shot as it was 11 miles into the training run and my legs were getting sore!

After 14 miles, Lauren and I felt like this – but it was so much more fun to run with a friend!

Since Lauren and I are both running Marine Corps and Philly Marathons, we pretty much have the same long run training plans in our future – and we worked it out today so that we are planning on doing the majority of our long runs together! I’m so excited because let’s be honest – Running with a buddy is ALWAYS way better!

Running with a friend is ALWAYS better!!! I really look forward to long runs because I get to run with my group.

I’m always so impressed with how high you can get in your jump shots. I’m pretty sure if I did that I’d be *maybe* a half an inch off of the ground 🙂

Your route looks beautiful! It reminds me of the C&O Canal path throughout DC/ MD/ VA!
