Days 1-3 of 40 Days

The past 3 days of my 40 Days Challenge have been pretty good. Dealing with my grandmother’s passing has been a little tough, but I have been able to 100% stick to my diet, meditation and yoga practice for the 40 Days program. Here is a little insight at what the past 3 days have been looking like for me:

I start my day with a mug of hot water along with 1/2 of a lemon squeezed into it.

In Journey to Power, Baron Baptiste stated that this drink ‘helps flush date from your digestive tract.’ – I have been researching the diuretic qualities of lemons and I plan to share them with you in a later post, lemon’s have a lot of good stuff going on for our bodies!

After enjoying my hot lemon water, I start my morning meditation. For this first week of the program, we are challenged to meditate for 5 minutes in the morning and 5 minutes in the evening. It has been a little difficult to set aside that time for myself and sit quietly, but I have managed to do it everyday for the past 3 days and it has been really nice.

The secret to my success is the Buddha Box application on my iPhone.

The Buddha Box turns my iPhone into a small portable sound machine – it contains a number of different Buddhist chants. What I love most about this app is the timer – you can set your mediation to a specific time and it goes the amount of time you wish to meditate.

The music options are really beautiful, it helps me relax and focus on my breathing.

Another main part of the 40 Days Program is yoga every day.

It is normally not a problem for me to get to a studio for a nice, hot practice. Since I was traveling this week, getting to a studio was a little difficult for me the first two days of the program – luckily, this challenge is completely available online. Every week, there is a different online yoga practice to follow – made especially for this 40 Days Challenge – so you can practice anytime, anywhere.

No excuses.

This first week the mandatory yoga practice is only 20 minutes, so I was easily able to follow this on my computer, from the hotel room. Charles even joined me on Day 2 for his first every yoga experience and he seemed to enjoy it! Maybe we can make a yogi out of him yet!

The yoga practice within the program increases every week – starting out at 20 minutes this first week. I was surprised when I went out today for my first 75 minute hot yoga flow how different I felt from cleaning up my eating, even if it was just from the past 2 days!

Another amazing thing that I have brought back into my life since the 40 Days have begun – my Juicer! I can’t even tell you how excited I am to be juicing again – sadly, I can’t remember the last time I juiced before today.

Aside from bringing back my love for a nice, green juice – I have been focusing the past 3 days on fruits, veggies, chicken & seafood, really filling my diet up with whole, natural foods. I feel really great and haven’t had any issues so far, let’s cross our fingers that this continues!

Do you have any amazing clean eating recipes that you would like to share with me?

I am looking to really get creative in the kitchen without carbs, dairy and processed foods!
