Oh hey Philly!
Since moving into the city, I am happy to report that I have a new favorite running distance.
3 Miles Baby!
After taking a little break from running, after a groin injury – I have found that 3 miles is officially the best distance for me at this point in my life, and I couldn’t be happier about it!
I have run a marathon or two (or three!) in my day, spent the past few years in marathon training mode and since then I have taken a bit of a break.
I have missed running to run, not running to train.
For me, going out and crushing 3 miles, or a 5k if i am feeling crazy, has been awesome for me to keep my milage up. I also love the fact that I don’t need a crazy time commitment to do it – It’s calming knowing that I will be out there for 30 minutes or less. Not sure why, but I really love that part.
I find it also allows me to do more with my workouts throughout the week. There is more time for spinning or yoga or cross fit to be paired WITH a nice little 3 mile run.
Oh, and it’s still a great calorie burn too!

I feel ya! I’m pretty much over training for long distance races. 3 miles is and always has been my favorite distance. It’s not a total time suck, and I feel accomplished when I’m done even if it didn’t take too long.
I hate running, but walk 5 miles most days, paired with some zumba it keeps me happy!
