{3 Ingredient} Strawberry Smoothie

I’m not sure if it’s the glorious Spring weather we have been having or that I might be on green juice overload {ok, that could never happen} but I have been finding myself really loving fruit smoothies as of late.

When it comes to smoothies, for me – less is more. I like really being able to taste the fresh fruit and all the flavors, I like to keep it simple. A handful of fresh strawberries, some greek yogurt & my favorite little flax seeds – the perfect combination.

Sure, you can add in a splash of milk to give it a little extra creaminess, or a splash of orange juice for a citrus kick or even some extra fruit to give the smoothie a little variety. But sometimes you just got to for a classic smoothie.

Speaking of a classic,  I recently was given the opportunity to satisfy my sweet tooth in a completely different way. When I was a kid, Wether’s Original + my grandparents would go together for me, like peanut butter & jelly. My grandma would, without fail, always have them with her in her purse. She would sneak them to me when I was being good in church. My grandpa would always have Wether’s hidden around the house, it would be a little scavenger hunt for sweet treats every time I came over to visit.

Whenever I see these little treats, I am immediately taken back to my childhood with my grandparents. All four of them are in heaven, but the sensory memory of a Werther’s Original for me is truly a classic. It’s funny how the taste of something, or even the smell of it, or just the packaging can remind you of time gone by. I love the satisfying, rich caramel taste because it’s yummy, but also because of the memories that come along with it – Werther’s brings me back to when I was a kid, spending time with my loved ones and there is nothing better than that.

After all the reminiscing for me that comes with these little candies – There are some great new flavors, aside from the Original Classic include – Caramel Cinnamon, Caramel Apple & {my favorite} Caramel Coffee.The sugar free version of this little candy is new to me, but after tasting {quite} a few – the sugar free is the way to go, you can’t even tell the difference. Some nutritional fun facts about the sugar free version: 40% fewer calories than the regular hard candy & 0 sugar carbs – not too shabby for these little treats.

    It’s wonderful to have such great childhood memories. For me it was Hire’s root beer in my Grandpop’s “ice box”. Your smoothie looks delish, but he never made them.

    Childhood memories are the best and you have taken me back as well (with you). I have to agree that Werther’s Sugar Free version tastes great! Love the new flavors too!
