As you may know, from my many {MANY} Instagram updates, I am a little obsessed with my heart rate monitor. I wear it ALL.THE.TIME. Seeing the calories add up on my wrist is a great source of motivation {and inspiration} during my workouts to push a little harder, go a little farther and sweat it out.
When I say sweat IT out, I am referring to
red wine & sour patch kids.
The heart wants what it wants.
I have had my HRM for almost a year now – it was a birthday gift from my mother-in-law {MM} last year, Thanks MM! – And it’s been pretty much attached to my wrist for a year. I recently went through all my old photos and noticed a very obvious trend – I love to document my sweat sessions & take pictures of my calorie burn. It was interesting and fun reviewing all the different burns and how the many workouts I have done over the past year have got me moving!
Here are my favorite calorie burns {in numerical order!} over the past year:

How many times do you have to go up {and down!} the Philadelphia Museum of Art Steps – the one’s Rocky runs up- to make a mile? I have the answer for you.
Crossfit is a great way to get your sweat on – It’s usually a 45-60 minute class that consists of a warm-up, strength training/endurance/skills and then the last 15-20 minutes of the class you put everything together and go all out. It will leave you sweaty and out of breath for sure! Not to mention sore the next day!

One of the most unique ways I have burned a good amount of calories is when my BFF Michelle & I were invited to SkyZone to check out the brand new indoor trampoline park. We spent about 40-45 minutes playing around on the trampolines – such a fun way to get your heart rate up!
I was never much of a spinner until this year and now I am hooked. I love going to spin class and try to go at least once a week to change things up a bit in my routine. The music is great and its a different way to get my body moving than with running.

For Christmas, Santa surprised me with the Nike+ FuelBand – When I don’t have my HRM on, I have this on – it’s a great reason to make sure you are active throughout the day – it gives me a reason to get up and take Jackson for an extra walk, or do some squats or crunches.

So there you have it – a few of my favorite workouts with my Heart Rate Monitor.
What’s YOUR favorite way to burn calories? Do you track your burn?

Does this version of the HR monitor have a strap?
Do you only use it for things that are not running related?
i have a garmin 305- for running but i never wear the strap also i cant just wear that all the time (too bulky)
Review of the product would be awesome!
Hey Lindsey – great questions, I will put together a review on it next week! Stay tuned!
I’d love to know how that watch does at tracking non-running/walking exercises. I can pretty quickly calculate my calories burned running, but am always curious about calories burned when I lift weights or do bodyweight exercises.
Thanks!
Rebecca – I’m going to do a review on this next week – be on the lookout! 🙂
Woot! I’ll be on the lookout! Thanks!
I’m thinking about getting one of those Nike Fuel Bands – yours looks awesome!
I have the FT7 Polar HR Monitor and the Fuel Band and I love them both. I wish I could use the HR monitor without the strap though, it bugs me. My favorite ways to burn calories are hiking, softball, and strength training.
I love the photos of Philadelphia, such a beautiful city!
I have a Garmin with heart rate strap/monitor but I’m really bad abuot remembering to charge it and/or bring it with me to the gym to track heart rate!
My favorit was are group exercise classes – Boot Camp, Cycling, combo of both (my gym offers a great one), weights classes, Zumba, kickboxing. I’ll do anything depending on my mood and being in a class atmosphere always pushes me harder!
Hi, it’s quite good to have one of these, it makes burning calories more fun and accurate at the same time. Even though, I won’t get one of these, I like to keep it as simple as it is, juts do jogging for a few minutes (30 to 45 minutes) ana check every month for my weight.
thank a lot for sharing
