Baby Bump: 37 Weeks Pregnant

37 weeks

How far along are you? 37 Weeks and officially FULL TERM! Woohoo! Less than 3 weeks until our due date, I can’t believe we are just about at the end of this crazy journey called pregnancy and soon we will get to meet our little guy! I seriously can’t wait!

How I’m feeling: Feeling sort of blah. I am all sorts of uncomfortable most of the day but I have been really focusing on getting out there, taking walks and keeping moving. I have also started stretching some more, which – according to our Childbirth class, will help with Labor & recovery. The lower part of my tummy is really sore, I have lots of pressure towards my pelvis & experience random contractions all throughout the day. Yesterday I felt sort of yucky and laid low – just trying to do as much as I can to continue to prepare for baby’s arrival without overdoing it.

Total weight gain: 20 pounds total gained since my last appointment. I will be going to the OB weekly at this point so will have more regular updates. I am really happy with my weight gain but I feel pretty large & in charge at this point. The belly is BIG!

How big is baby? At this point, most babies weigh in around 6 – 6.5 pounds – about the size of a bunch of Swiss chard. At this point baby is fully developed and prepared for the outside world. Baby is practicing his skills of inhaling, exhaling, sucking, gripping and blinking too!

Maternity clothes: No new clothes, I am riding out these final weeks with what I already have, but I did get some new boots from Santa and they are a pregnant woman’s dream, especially in the Winter!

Sleep: Surprisingly enough, even though I have been feeling more and more uncomfortable during the day, I have made progress in the sleep department this past week. Sure I still get up frequently to pee, which I am SO OVER, but this past week I was able to SLEEP IN! One day this weekend, Charles & I even slept in until 9am! Hark the Herald Angels Sing – it was a miracle! Since then I have been able to sleep in a fairly good amount most days, which has been MUCH more than the past 9 months, {most days I get up between 5-6 for no reason} so this is a good thing. I am embracing the extra rest!

Best moment this week: It wasn’t so much as a best moment as a crazy realization – when my parents left on Christmas day I had a minor freak out. It’s crazy to think that I wouldn’t see them again until I was in the hospital {they live in Virginia}  and that totally made everything really real. This is really happening and next time I see my mom and dad, we will be a little family of three! It excites me and freaks me out equally at the same time!

Movement: Baby is moving and grooving – less big kicks and more subtle movements – space is running out in Hotel Bump so I’m sure he is feeling a little tight in the closed quarters.

Food cravings: Chocolate Milkshakes, Five Guys, Thai Food {specifically pad thai with green curry sauce} – I have found that with my milkshake craving, pregnancy knows no temperature.

Food aversions: Chicken and BBQ {random}

What I Miss: Sleeping on my stomach!

What I’m looking forward to: Weirdly enough – LABOR! My goal was to get to January with this baby and here we are, so I am anxious for those first few signs of labor to begin.These last few weeks just seem like such a crazy waiting game – everyone is literally standing by with their cell phones waiting for The Call.  I’m excited to see if there is any progress at my OB appointment this week too!

Milestone: Ok, don’t kill me, but I still haven’t 100% packed my hospital bag yet. I have been on everyone else to make sure theirs is ready, but I feel like the second I pack mine I am going to go into Labor, so I have been holding off a bit {until it’s officially January} I have a list and bags open on our guest bed, but they are still pretty empty. I PROMISE I will pack it before my next update! Pinky swear!

I also haven’t washed ANY of Baby Brinkley’s clothes or sheets or anything. Again, I feel like the second I do, I’m going to pop and I wanted to get through the holidays. But also washing & re-organizing everything sort of is freaking me out at this point {no clue why} so I have been putting it off, but I really need to get on that. Unless someone wants to come over and do it for me? Any takers? Side Note – Do we have to use Dreft or are there any other good detergents for newborns?

Finally we put in the final shelf in the nursery this past week AND both our families have now seen the nursery, so I will be giving a tour sometime next week – I can’t wait to share it with you! We also installed the carseat so that is good to go as well! {See we are making some progress!}

    The end is near!!! As far as Dreft, we got a bunch as a shower gift and used that for awhile but honestly, any detergent free of dyes and perfumes is fine to use – We eventually switched to All Free & Clear and then we could use it for all of our laundry. A lot easier, plus Dreft is $$$!!
    Boy do I remember everyone standing by – I was one week late and I kept getting texts and calls asking “Baby yet?” and it was SO annoying 🙂
    Best of luck in these last few weeks!

    I’m 22 weeks along today and it’s been really helpful to follow your posts and see where I”ll be in just a few short weeks. Good luck in the last stretch!

    Don’t waste your money on Dreft!! We use Tide free & clear and I just buy the big one and use it for everyone’s clothing. Also, wait until baby is home to de-tag and wash all the clothes. You never know what you might want to return or will never use. Just wash a few comfy outfits for the first couple days. All the rest can be easily washed when you come home w/baby.

    Omg, pack that bag!!! I
    My water broke at 36w6d and it wasn’t packed. Not only did I have to TAKE THE TRAIN (!!) home from work and drive home from the station, but then I had to pack my bag! No fun. I didn’t have any baby clothes washed, either, so my mom and aunt had to do it. Good luck these next few (hopefully) weeks!

    Tide and/or All Free and Clear are the best–Dreft has a lot of perfume in it that can irritate baby’s sensitive skin. I also agree with not washing too much stuff–I ended up returning a lot of sheets/clothes that we didn’t need after bringing home the baby.

    Best of luck in the next few weeks!!

    Seventh Generation is what we use for all the laundry. No fragrance and cleans spit up/milk/whatever stains well.

    You look awesome – all Baby Brinks! Yes, we are all on standby and will be up next weekend to wash everything for you!
