I love sharing with you my favorite things, including anything & everything baby – today’s post is no exception.
The Calma bottle is something Brooks has been using since I first started pumping & we began introducing a bottle a few times a week. I previously mentioned a little bit about the Calma bottle in Baby Brooks’ Favorite Things at Two Months old but today I wanted to share with you a little bit more about it!
Calma is a women and infant breastfeeding innovation- it’s a research-based nipple used with a BPA-free breastmilk bottle designed to allow babies to maintain their natural feeding behavior and transition from bottle back to breast with ease. What’s unique about Calma is that it is more than a conventional bottle nipple: it’s a research-based feeding solution designed exclusively for breastfed babies to support mothers in maintaining their breastfeeding goals, especially during life transitions (i.e., going back to work).
The Calma enables babies to maintain their natural feeding behaviour learned on the breast – it allows baby to drink, pause and breathe regularly – and one size is sufficient for the entire breastfeeding period {just as in nature!}
We like to try a variety of bottles & nipples {to keep Brooks on his toes!} but he always seems to really enjoy the Calma so much – he can even hold it himself now!
Here is a little sneak peak of the bottle itself – its sort of looks like a puzzle to put together at first, but its super easy and when you look at all the pieces & how they fit together to make the bottle, you get a better understanding of how the bottle works and why it works so well.
Side Note – I love the bright/bold colors & measurements on the bottle – it makes it so easy to see how much you have when pumping!
The lovely folks at Medela have offered up a Calma bottle to one lucky And Her Little Dog Too reader.

I’ve been wanting to try this bottle for awhile now! I use a medela pump & collection bottles so it’d be really nice to just put this calma top on instead of transferring the milk to a whole new bottle!!

I have a 2 month old and we’re still figuring out which bottles he prefers. Also, I use a Medela pump and would love the ease of just popping a nipple on top as opposed to “re-making” into another bottle.
What a fantastic invention!
