Three Months Pregnant with Baby #2

Today I’m excited to share with you my first trimester recap with baby #2. As I mentioned before, I’ll be doing monthly posts with updates on this pregnancy, with weekly photos of course.

{I look so tired in these pictures! A good representation of my first trimester!}

How far along am I: I am 14 weeks and 4 days – due September 14th!

How I’m feeling: As I mentioned in my Readers Questions Answered post, it’s been a rough few months. I have been nauseous & vomiting – it’s not been ideal with a one year old running around. I thought I was starting to feel better but then this past weekend I had another blast of morning sickness, at night {always at night!} which knocked me out for a while. If I eat regular small meals, I can usually keep the nausea at bay, but it’s been a bit of a roller coaster chasing after Brooks! When I’m not nauseous, I am pretty tired {more on that below} but other than that – feeling good! Ha!8 weeks

Total weight gain: None. I believe this is due in part to the question above. I am happy to say that I started this pregnancy at the same weight I started my pregnancy with Brooks – so that was a plus for me. Even though it’s crazy to think because I definitely feel really different after having a baby & nursing for 13 months. I don’t think I’ve put on any weight yet because of the nausea & sickness, but I definitely have a little bump poking through! I’ve also had people ask me about my baby bump {like random people on the street!} when we were in South America – around 9/10 weeks, which I thought was a little crazy, but I guess a bump, is a bump, is a baby bump!

How big is baby: This is a funny question because last time I had a app that I would check religiously to know exactly the growth & what was happening that week. I even took pictures with most of the fruits for the size baby was each week – this time, I just had to google how big baby was at 14 weeks, which is the size of a lemon. Pregnancy is definitely different the second time around when you have a little one to chase around after!

Maternity clothes: I’ve been on a purging streak getting rid of things in my closet – I’ve been doing lots of consigning at Greene Street & Twice {both are awesome for selling clothes online!} – I’ve decided I don’t want to hold on things for another year if I can’t wear them while pregnant and {more importantly} if I don’t love it – it can’t take up precious space in my closet. Plus we are reworking Brooks’ new room, as he will transition out of the nursery which means I need to get rid of my excess crap! But to answer your question, I’m still in regular clothes at the moment. I feel I may need a Bellaband to continue wearing my current pants in the very near future, but until then, I’m powering through in my regular jeans.

Stretch marks: Negative. Hoping to avoid them again like last time.

On Sleep: This pregnancy I’ve been exhausted like I’ve never been before. Sure, I’ve recently {within the past year} gone through the whole newborn thing – where the baby wakes up every two hours to feed – and that makes you pretty tired. But I think nursing and chasing after a one year old all the while being pregnant makes for a whole new experience in terms of how tired you can be. At one point I was feeding three people – myself, Brooks & new baby – THAT’S exhausting! Honestly, I am not a napper – never could be – but throughout the whole first trimester, I’ve been napping when Brooks naps {something I’ve never really done this whole first year} and going to bed before 8:00pm – sleeping for 10/11 hours. I can’t get enough sleep. Only recently, like this past week I’ve been able to stay up a little later. Brooks has also been a really good sleeper lately, sleeping from 7:30 pm – 7:30 am which has been a complete miracle. Crossing my fingers it stays like this, at least for a while so I can catch up on some sleep!

Baby Movement: There have been a few moments where I thought I felt a thing or two here and there, and while I know it’s still very early, it’s funny because this time I know what to expect and what it feels like. So I’ll give you a solid maybe.

Food cravings: Oranges. Orange juice {in single servings – random}, all.the.salads – with creamy dressing, fruit like raspberries & blackberries & grapes – oh my! Pretty much everything the exact opposite of what I was craving the first time around. This pregnancy has been very different so far.

Food aversions: Depends on the chicken – I enjoy it in my spicy chipotle burrito bowl & in teriyaki dumplings from Wegman’s but not much else. The smell of baby food makes me gag – barf. I’ve been very aware of scents & smells have become heightened to me so some things are instantly awesome or instantly awful.

What I miss: I might kill someone for a glass of red wine. And thinking about not being able to have a nice cold beer during these upcoming hot summer days bums me out a lot. Like, A LOT.

Best moment this First Trimester: Sharing the big news with our family & friends and finally being able to share it with everyone on the blog!

What I’m looking forward to: Finding out the gender in t-minus 6 weeks! Not that I’m counting… I’m not one of those  crazy patient people who wait to be surprised at the birth to find out the gender. I think it’s a surprise either way when you get to officially meet your little one for the first time to see what he/she is like – being able to prepare a little bit the second half of the pregnancy while knowing the gender makes me happy. But recently I’ve been reading a lot about the technician’s getting the gender wrong…that freaks me out!

Milestone: Getting out of the first trimester & hopefully my morning sickness {at night} will be ending! Also i’m getting pretty excited to rock my bump during the spring & summer months. It’s going to be fun!

You look adorable! I think I’ll go on record with my guess that you’re having a girl. My girl absolutely killed me with scents. I had a bionic nose for the first trimester. It was hard to deal! It eased up toward the middle of the second trimester, though. 🙂

You have a SERIOUS pregnancy glow. Holy moly! Now I think you’re having a boy because you look too beautiful!

My mom works at a small business (20 employees) and 2 of the ladies were both pregnant with girls and both turned out to be boys!!!! They went to the same OB, so that might have something to do with it, but yikes!!!!

You look great! Also, I think you are making my uterus glow a bit ( we are starting to think about #2, we have a boy born within a week of brooks). About what you miss- I know the decision is controversial and personal and has to be done after you do your own research- but after I was out of my first trimester I decided the occasional drink, wine or beer, was safe. My family is Dutch so they are more open and supportive of it and I did a ton of research which made me feel confident in my decision but it was so nice to indulge and not feel like I had to wait and miss it for a whole 9 months! Something to think about! Can’t wait to follow you on this journey!

So excited for you and to follow your pregnancy journey the 2nd time around. I look forward to hearing how this one goes, with having a toddler to take care of the entire time. I’m pregnant with my first and due a couple weeks before you!

I was so happy to get out of the first trimester! I actually had two ultrasounds (18 and 20 Weeks, two different techs, a newbie and a veteran) and both confirmed girl for me! I needed a double confirmation lol. You look great! Hope your nausea subsides! Mines is coming back (I’m 20Weeks3Days). Blah!
