Four Months Pregnant with Baby #2

How far along am I: I am officially 5 months pregnant – also known as 18 weeks, according to my favorite little chart. Feels so crazy to have another month gone during this second pregnancy and to officially be in the 5 month zone. I don’t feel like I’m 5 months pregnant, which is weird. But I think that’s going to catch up with me fast.

How I’m feeling: This past month I started to come out of my first trimester haze of feeling awful & being sick, which has been great. I feel like I’m in the honeymoon phase of the second trimester because aside from the bump, I really don’t feel pregnant and I’ve been going about my days with a good amount of energy, which is awesome.

14 weeks

Total weight gain: Officially only 2 pounds, which seems a bit crazy to me because I have a legit bump at this point. By this time with Brooks, I was up 5 pounds, but I am pretty sure I’ve gained less so far because of my sickness in the beginning and the fact that I am eating so much better – I crave salads and fruits and vegetables, which wasn’t the case at all with Brooks! I’m happy with what I’ve been eating and I hope that the nice weather keeps me out and about moving as much as possible as baby grows!

How big is baby: I had to do a check back to my last 18 month post but apparently Baby is about 5.6 inches and weighs almost 7 ounces {about the size of a bell pepper!}

how i feel

Maternity clothes: I’ve been in maternity clothes for a while now. I went out and picked up a pair of capris {distressed – my favorite!} since I have no warm weather maternity bottoms. I also picked up some t-shirts, which I’m obsessed with and wear daily. During a recent Target trip I ended up coming home with a pair of shorts {on sale!} that feel amazing, were a great price and I can’t wait to wear them! What else do I need for summer?

Stretch marks: Nothing that I can see.15 weeks

On Sleep: Brooks has been sleeping like a champ lately {naps are another story} but sadly, I’m up to pee every few hours and a few times a week I find myself up at 5:30 am, just up. I toss and turn for a bit, try to go back to sleep but after a while I give up and surf the web. I don’t feel too bad about it because I go to bed so early, I’m still getting 8+ hours, I just wish I could sleep in! I’ve also started staying up a bit later than when I last checked in – now I’ve been going to bed by 9:30/10pm, which is nice because I have more energy in the evenings and throughout the day in general.

Baby Movement: Last night {during Game of Thrones – Woo!} was the first time I was able to feel some real movements. Just a few wiggles here and there. I feel the most movement at night when I finally have the chance to sit down and relax after a day of running around after Brooks. Little one is still so little but around the next few weeks last time at least I was able to feel some real moves. Looking forward to that!

Food cravings: Still really into fruits, vegetables, salads, smoothies and juices. I’ve found that if I don’t eat by 6:00 pm, I loose my appetite – so I try to eat with Brooks, but that doesn’t always work out and sometimes I usually end up eating some cereal. Other things I enjoy include: Chipotle, breakfast sandwiches, hot dogs and fish tacos.

16 weeks

Food aversions: I can’t STAND the smell of baby food. Blah! And depending on what Brooks eats during the day, I do give him the occasional pureed food option. Smells awful & sent me to the bathroom in the early months. Ugh. Even talking about it, I can smell it now. Chicken is still not my friend, but it depends on how its prepared, which is random. I go back and forth about a few things, but for the most part at mealtimes, I know what I want to eat.

What I miss: Being able to sit outside during this gorgeous weather and enjoy a beer on the patio! Ugh! This weekend Charles picked me up a non-alcoholic beer & I made a shandy mixing it with some lemonade and it wasn’t the absolute worst thing ever, but the beer by itself was pretty bad. I also enjoyed a virgin blood orange margarita the other day, that was awesome.

Best moment this Month: I think the best part about this month for me was the fact that my nausea & vomiting came to an end {fingers crossed I don’t jinx myself by saying that!} Being able to function during the day without being sick with my little man running around was a game-changer.

What I’m looking forward to: Finding out the GENDER in 18 short days. Ah! I seriously can’t wait to see if Brooks is going to have a little brother or sister. I’m going to do a whole post around my thoughts when it gets a little closet but I seriously have no idea what it’s going to be – I go back and forth on my guess. I CANNOT WAIT to find out! I feel like after the anatomy scan {aside from making sure the baby is healthy & growing properly, which is obviously important} when we find out the gender, the pregnancy becomes more real, at least for us!

Milestone: I can’t believe we are almost at the halfway mark. Seems crazy to think about – time has gone by at warp speed, except for when I wasn’t feeling good, then it crawled on by. I’m looking forward to continuing to enjoy the second trimester energy boost! 17 weeks
