6 Months Pregnant with Baby #2

For all my Baby #2 Updates, check out my Bump #2 Page!

****************

22 - 26

How far along am I: Officially in the third trimester as of today, according to my favorite little calendar. I can’t believe I’m sort of in the “final countdown” I feel like I still have so long to go, but being able to say that I’m 7 months now makes me feel better too !

How I’m feeling: I was feeling pretty great until this past week. I think the heat and the fact that I was trying to do way too much did me in. On Thursday of last week I started having Braxton Hicks in the afternoon. Then again on Friday. On Saturday I woke up in so much pain I was in tears for a bit. Luckily it was the weekend and Charles was home to help me out so I was able to lay down and relax a bit. The pain was coming every 20 minutes or so for a few hours, then eventually slowed down. I kept drinking water all day, I think it was sort of a hydration thing combined with the crazy heat and just trying to do way too much. Trying to take it a little easier this week for sure.

Total weight gain: I believe I’m around a 10 pound weight gain at this point. The numbers change a bit every day so its hard to know for sure, but that’s around where I was at for my last appointment. I feel good about that.

How big is baby: Baby is as big as a Rutabaga or as long as a Cucumber {about 15 in.} this week – this is the earliest he could survive if delivered prematurely {but hopefully we won’t have to worry about that anytime soon!}.

Maternity clothes: Obsessed with all my fun summer maternity clothes. They are all so comfortable and breathable and light. I can still get away with a few tanks & lots of sun dresses, maxi’s and skirts that aren’t maternity, but fit my bump – which is great. I haven’t had to buy too much, but what I have bought I love and I wear constantly. Summer maternity clothes are way more fun than winter. But you have to deal with the heat. Blah.

Stretch marks: Nope.

On Sleep: I’ve been tired, but anyone who chases after a one year old will be tired at the end of the day. It’s nothing like it was in the beginning. I get in bed at night, watch some of my guilty pleasure tv and relax – it’s awesome. I also get to sleep in until 7-7:30am most days, because Brooks has been sleeping like a champ – so that’s been such a blessing too!

Baby Movement: Little man was moving a TON a few weeks ago, now he usually makes his presence known in the early morning or at night when I have my feet up. I can really feel certain areas of him when he sits lower in my belly, because it gets really hard, but I’m never really sure what part is what! Ha!

Food cravings: Depends on my mood. Since it’s been so hot, Ive recently been really into milkshakes, ice cream and water ice. Yum! Nothing better on a hot day! I also still enjoy hot dogs, hamburgers and a really good salad with creamy dressing. Cold fruit makes me happy, specifically watermelon, as does LIFE cereal. I also enjoy corn on the cob. I enjoy all the typical summer eats.

Food aversions: Depends on my mood again. I’m currently less picky, but if I don’t want something, I really don’t want it. Also, I’ve been having TONS of heartburn issues – like last time, and this sort of turns me off of food in general and makes me not really hungry or want to eat. Tums are my BFF.

Belly button in or out: Out! I feel like this happened so fast this time! My belly button is completely flat! Ha!

walk bumpWhat I miss: Summer beers!

Best moment this Month: I think I really popped this past month and it’s fun to hear people make comments on my bump all the time. Everyone asks me questions whenever I’m out and about and it’s fun to get excited to talk about baby #2!

What I’m looking forward to: Starting to outfit Brooks’ new big boy room as we transition him from the nursery, which is what baby #2 will takeover!

Milestone: Making it to the third trimester! Wow – that happened fast!

Hi there! My name is Leslie and I’m also expecting my second son in just a few weeks! I am craving hot dogs but so nervous about eating them because of the risk of bacteria. How do you prepare yours to ensure they are safe to eat? I feel like I can never be sure they’re heated enough. You’d think I’d be less paranoid the second time around but I’d just hate for something bad to happen to baby or me over a silly hot dog!

I get mine at Whole Foods and they are good to go! They don’t have any of the nitrates in them so I don’t worry at all! Let me know if you have any other questions!

I can’t believe you are starting your 7th months – you look great! Try and relax a little in the next couple of months! Getting excited for Baby Brinkley #2.
