What’s in my Hospital Bag for Baby #2

So I had a pretty productive weekend in terms of getting ready for baby #2. We are at 36 weeks now so we are coming down to the wire in terms of baby could be coming at any time now – and let me tell you, I’m ready! I can’t wrap my mind around being pregnant for another month, so I’m manifesting going early. My doctor {and everyone else} has told me that baby is low & at my appointment this week she is going to check me for dilation.

With Brooks I walked around at almost 4 cm. dilated for 4 weeks and I STILL had to be induced {check out my magical birth story here} but I’m hoping that history doesn’t repeat itself because that would put me in the hospital in Center City Philadelphia right when the Pope is going to be here not to mention it’s my sister-in-laws wedding weekend {yes, my life is crazy} so cross your fingers for me that the new guy wants to come out into the world and play a little early.

Back to my productive weekend! We are 95% set up in Brooks’ new big boy room – all I need to do is hang a few things up on the wall! Woo! We also had him take 2 naps in his new crib in the new room this weekend too – that went well, so I’m hoping that after naps there for another week or so we can officially make the transition with sleeping at night too. I just really don’t want to do anything to screw with those 12+ hours he’s been giving me. I need them now more than ever!

Also this weekend, I packed my hospital bag! With Brooks, I packed 3 bags – One for Labor, One for Post-Delivery, and One for Baby. I, like so many other first time moms over-packed, so this time I’m cutting it down a bit and just bringing one bag for me and one bag for baby {more on that later!}

This time I’m just bringing the essentials – a few good pair of socks {yes, they are good pairs, but if they get ruined, I’ll get new ones!} two good nursing tanks {I’m super excited about these!}, flip flops for showering, a comfy robe  + pajamas to make me feel more human, the darker the better {even though I won’t wear these the first day b/c I’d rather ruin the hospital ones with all the blood! TMI? Sorry!} A good water bottle {I never leave home without this thing!}, eye mask {because I can’t sleep without one!}, slippers for walking around the hospital and my Push Pack pretty much has everything else I could ever want or need {in travel form! Check out my full review here!}

I’m also going to be tossing in some purple gatorade {my favorite!} some snack bars + shot blocks for snacks {for Charles + me} along with extra chapstick, hair ties, headband, headphones, ear plugs, some tinted moisturizer and a comfy + loose going home outfit.

I feel like that sounds like a lot, but it isn’t too much and it all fits in my handy dandy travel bag {that extends for more room!}

    Great bag!! I too overpacked for the hospital and ended up in a pair of. Black Hanes sweat pants that I bought as disposable pants for the hospital and a somewhat cute tshirt during my stay.

    Such a cute bag! Are you bringing reading material? When I hit baby #5, I had almost no visitors and lots of time on my hands. I caught up on a lot of reading.

    I brought my boppy pillow and I had someone bring my pillow to the hospital, it really helped me sleep better.

    My second ended up being in nicu for the first 36 hours so I was really glad I brought some maternity yoga pants and a nursing tank plus a comfy cardigan thing to wear to walk to/from the nicu and my room. I packed lollipops with number 1 and never ate them and with number 2 would have killed for a lollipop I felt so sick during labor. So that’s definitely going in our bag for number 3. We packed clif builders bars for my hubs for babe #1 and packed twice as much with #2 for middle of the night hunger. I was so glad we did!! So so hungry. I also packed a few single packets of Justin’s nut butter to add to oatmeal at breakfast to take it up a notch and pack in yummy healthy fat (and always ordered oatmeal to help with milk supply). Also packed my boppy as mentioned above, a new baby blanket for him that I used more with babe #1 then babe #2 despite that babe 1 was an August baby and #2 was April. Go figure. I also brought my favorite pillow from home both times and was so glad to have something comfy and from home. Brought ipad the second time as well for reading, emailing pictures to family, documenting important things I didn’t want to forget. And we packed everything for me, hubs and baby in one medium rolling suitcase so it wasn’t a terrible amount, though typing it sounds a bit ridiculous 🙂
