Uncommon Goods Giveaway

Today I have another fun post to share with you!

The lovely folks at UncommonGoods reached out to me to see if we could partner together. This was my first time learning about uncommon goods, so I was excited to check out their site.

I was so excited to see that there were SO MANY amazing products at UncommonGoods, but also that their big belief is that there’s a story behind every product they sell. They are committed to offering  a creative and exciting merchandise assortment and are working with our suppliers – from artists to small manufacturers – to make their products in a more socially and environmentally responsible manner. Since our founding, we’ve featured products that contain recycled components and have not sold products containing leather, feathers or fur – our goal is to sell no product that harms humans or animals. How cool is that?

When I had the chance to pick out some products to try myself, I seriously had the most difficult time making a decision. There are so many great products to choose from – it took me days to decide! Ha!

I thought it would be nice to treat myself, the husband + the kids, each to a little treat – It was the perfect timing with Valentine’s Day around the corner {everyone got their presents over the weekend} so it was a fun excuse to spoil everyone!

blocks

Brooks {and eventually Graham} was the easiest one to pick a treat for! I went with these amazing Electric Light Blocks by Light Stax. These are sort of DUPLO sized, which is awesome when you have little kids running around BUT the best part is, they LIGHT UP!

stax

All you do is add blocks to the base (battery or usb powered), and each one lights up when connected! It’s compatible with other construction block systems of the same size, this set of 36 or 102 blocks will inspire endless creativity in kids and grown-up geeks alike. It makes amazing sculptures of geometric light, in four modes (always on, 15 min. auto-off, flashing, and fading). You can build your own custom nightlight, skyscraper, glowing robot, or anything that lights up your imagination. Brooks hangs out with these in his fort forever and plays and plays – I love them too! Such a great {and different!} gift if you are looking for something a little one can build!

Next up, was a little something for Charles.

The husband {and I!} are both beer lovers. We love to try new beers from all over, especially when we travel its so fun to try out the local brews. So I thought it would be perfect to get him this awesome Beer Bottle Cap display for his office area.

beer bottle

How cute is this?!

This piece is crafted from Baltic birch plywood + this bottle-shaped display board offers cap collectors an alternative to throwing those little works of art in a plastic cup or cluttered drawer. The openings have small teeth that fit the crimped edges of caps to hold them securely, and the board sports additional holes to hang the whole display up anywhere. Plus it’s handmade in Tampa, Florida.

There’s another one that is in the shape of the United States, which I liked as well. But the beer bottle shape fit our space better! I think its such a fun guy gift – Charles was excited and surprised to get such a cool gift! We’ve already got to work adding to the slots – lots more work to do to fill ‘er up!

Next up was a little something for me. Because, why not?

This was the hardest to decide on because there were so many amazing options for home, kitchen and pretty much any room in the house. But I wanted something that was a little different and made sense for our space in city. So I thought this Twist Fold 3 Tiered Bowl would be fun!

bowl

Check it out -> This triple-decker tower of nesting bowls makes countertop storage a cinch even in an itty-bitty apartment kitchen. As a child in Holland, designer Barro de Gast was constantly tinkering with objects around the house with the goal of maximizing their functionality to best suit the user’s needs. His tri-level design has a small footprint and features three bowls that keep different strata of snacks separate. The generously sized bottom bowls can house fruits and vegetables, while the three-part top bowl can split up a trio of nuts, garlic and other small ingredients. Perfect for serving chips and dips at parties, the bowls nest into a tidy stack that slips neatly into a cupboard once the guests depart – and it’s even made of BPA-free plastic!

moving bowl

I was looking for something fun to share all the extra fruits and veggies I’ve been buying lately, since I’m back on the Juicing Train {not the full 3 day cleanse, but I’ve been juicing daily} so this has been perfect to have everything organized and out on the counter. But I also think it’s something I will use when we have people over to entertain.

I think it’s fun, different and totally makes sense for storage! Love it!

A little more about the UncommonGoods mission – > It’s that of an emerging designer just introducing her work to the world; artisans working collaboratively in a low income country; or a seasoned artist crafting each of his pieces by hand. They are building a community of passionate people who love our products and connect with the stories behind them. We’re growing not only our artist family, but also a strong following of customers who celebrate artists and delight in surrounding themselves with creative design.

UncommonGoods is proud to be a founding member of B Corporation, an organization created to help customers understand the social and environmental impact of their purchases. The B seal means that a company has met the standards outlined in a comprehensive screening questionnaire, which evaluates a company on issues ranging from providing a living wage, to lessening their impact on the environment, to giving back to the community. It’s just an great place to shop for ideas for any upcoming, Anniversary GiftsPersonalized Gifts + Jewelry too!
