An Update On Nursing + Pumping Baby #2 – And A Philips Avent Natural Bottle Giveaway

Ok, so since I posted about our upcoming child-free vacation { in 23 days, but who’s counting?!} I’ve had a lot of questions about how nursing + pumping has been going and what our plans are for the trip! So I wanted to take a few minutes to chat about all that!

On Nursing -> still going good and strong! Graham is a champ and is sleeping through the night – 7pm to around 6:30/7am {knock on wood}- which is all sorts of amazing. Sometimes he goes down a little later and sleeps a little later but that’s about the average – hey! I’ll take it! Occasionally he gets up sometime between then and 10/11pm fussing for one reason or another – depending on the day and if he napped well or not. Sometimes I will feed him, sometimes Charles will go in and rock him. We take turns and it’s all good!

I haven’t really put him on a schedule like I did with Brooks around this age just because our schedule with Brooks + all his activities and play dates always keeps us running around. But Graham seems to be pretty good going with the flow and I refuse to sit inside all day so we are out and about. As long as G is sleeping well, I’m happy! If that were to change, maybe we would alter our days a tad – but either way, none of us would be happy sitting inside all day.

On Pumping -> I’m really happy with how my pumping situation has been going lately. I love my little pump, it works its magic every day! I usually wake up before the boys, come downstairs and pump {while catching up on my DVR} or grab Graham, feed him downstairs and then he hangs out on the play mat while I pump {still while catching up on my DVR}
milk

I’ve been really blessed to have been able to save up 4 shoeboxes full of breastmilk! All of which are ready to go for when Charles + I go away for a week – they range in size from 3-7oz. – but usually I pump between 5-6 oz. every morning on my one side {I prefer to pump on my left side, it typically is a better pumper} But last week I felt like SUPERWOMAN when I pumped 10 oz.! Double Digits Holler! Seriously, that was pretty bad ass! Ha!

My parents and my in-laws are going to be sharing the week with Brooks, but my parents are going to keep Graham the whole week. Since my mom comes over twice a week we’ve been doing a little practicing with the bottle, to get Graham used to taking a bottle in general, and to get him used to taking a bottle from my mom. Luckily, little man likes to eat! And he’s been loving the extra milk + snuggle time with Gaga {what the boys call my mom!}

nipple

Our favorite bottle by far has been the Philips Avent Natural Baby Bottle – It has a wide ‘breast-like’ shape that makes it easy to latch on. It’s also extra soft and has a flexible nipple – making it the most natural way to bottle feed. This bottle also has a advanced anti-colic system with innovative twin valve allows air into the bottle – not baby’s tummy.  The fewer parts make it simple to use and easy to clean.

Graham really hasn’t had much of a bottle before so when you first introduce a baby to something new, you never really know how they are going to handle it! Lucky for us, Graham seemed to take to it fine! I’m hoping he’s as accommodating when we leave for a week!

Good luck Gaga! Ha!

    I would most likely use it for my little babe arriving in June, although depending on what we get at our shower I may not need them and can pass them along to a friend!

    Graham loved this bottle when I fed it to him, so hopefully with Mama’s breast milk inside, it’s gonna be good while you and hubby are vacaying away!
