My Back to School Struggles + a Orgain Giveaway

I don’t know about you, but being a mom with a little in school for the first time has been a big adjustment. It’s been almost 3 years of Brooks and I {and now Graham} doing our own thing. Sure we have naps and bedtime to worry about, but aside from that we pretty much do what we want on a daily basis. As you know, we like to keep busy – it’s good for the littles and good for me to always be out and about.

Now that Brooks is in school two days a week, I have to say, it’s been a big adjustment for me – now I have to make sure everyone is up, ready to go and out the door by a certain time to make sure Brooks isn’t late getting to school. And then less than 3 hours later I have to turn around and make sure I’m not late picking him up – all the while hoping little Graham is on board with cooperating.us

I LOVE that Brooks is in school. He’s only gone 3 days so far, but he loves it and looks forward to it! He’s having fun, making friends and learning that ever important student/teacher relationship. Plus, it’s good for him to experience life without me right by his side, at least for a few hours a week. And I’m loving meeting local neighbors and making new friends too! BUT I have to say, getting Brooks there and back and finding something to entertain Graham with or run a quick errands in the meantime is a little chaotic!

Aside from the timeliness of it all and getting the stars to align and all the littles to cooperate, I’m also having to get into the groove of packing a snack for school. Might not sound weird for someone who has done daycare from the start but it’s just another thing I’m in the process of adjusting to.

Sure, whenever we go out I have a giant bag packed of snacks and sometimes lunches if we are out and about for the day – I think the start and end time of school has just thrown me for a little loop and I need a minute to adjust to the fact that I now have a child in school {how did that happen so fast?} And the snack has to be allergy friendly and something he will actually eat {which I never really know what that will be}

vanillaNot to mention that since the weather has started cooling down a bit {which is a amazing thing} and with school we are on more of a schedule now so we’ve been spending more time outside – last Thursday we were out and about with the stroller from 8:30am – 12:30 – dropping B off, walking to a class, walking to a park, picking B up – so now I am packing myself a snack too! So many things to pack, unpack, remember, take with me – I feel like a bag lady at all times, even if we aren’t even going anywhere! But at least I’ve been getting to try some yummy things on my recent snack breaks with the littles!

As a little back to school treat – for Brooks and myself – I was able to partner with Orgain to share their love for Back to School and getting back to healthy snacking options {for moms and the littles!} I’ve been LOVING trying out their new Organic Protein Plant Based Bars – in Peanut Butter AND Cookie Dough – YES PLEASE! They are 150 calories, only have 5g of sugar or less AND have 10 g of protein – they are perfect to Replenish, Refuel and GO!

I also really loved the Cold Brew Coffee + Protein in Iced Mocha. Again, 10g of protein so its awesome as a snack, pre-workout boost or to fight those sugar cravings.

Brooks LOVED trying the Healthy Kids Organic Nutritional Shakes in Chocolate, Strawberry + Vanilla. He really only has milk or water at his age so this was a big hit for him to have something new and tasty. I loved that they have 8g organic protein, are a organic fruit + veggie blend {he’s a little picky eater at this age, so it’s nice to get this in somehow!} It also has 23 vitamins and minerals and is doctor developed – I love this as a snack for the littles! Such a great treat!
