They Call It A Comeback + a NATHAN Sport Giveaway

I’ve been on a hiatus from running FOREVER. My goal in 2016 was to run a race every month – I did the Run into Spring 5K in February, the Back on my Feet 5 Miler in March and the Hot Chocolate 15k and then pretty much stopped. The summer got so crazy busy and I don’t own a double running stroller  {pretty much the only kind of stroller I don’t own } so the logistics of running with the two littles who are with me 99 % of the time is slightly impossible. amore

I’ve also found that if I don’t have something I’m training for, I really am not motivated to get out there and run at all. I know myself and I need a end goal to work towards. Last week I signed up for a 5k run that’s happening in our neighborhood next weekend. For the runners out there I know 5k is not much – heck, I haven’t run in MONTHS and my first run back was 3 miles – oh, but it was SERIOUSLY a rough one. But that’s my personality, if I don’t have a race to run, I’m less likely to train. If I’m going to make the time and effort and coordinate schedules to be without the kids for a little to go out for a run, it’s going to be for at least 3 miles because I’m going to make it a worthwhile one!


It’s so crazy with running how quickly you can loose your stamina and how long it can take to really get it back. I’ve been running a few times a week, all I really have time for, and it feels so good once the run is over but MAN I’m having a hard time getting to that place where I feel good while actually running – Ha!


Aside from my 5k that I’m running this weekend {Brooks is going to do the Kids Run that day too – can’t wait for that!} I’ve also signed up I also registered for the Love Run Philadelphia Half Marathon! I can’t wait for March and the fact that I haven’t run a Half Marathon since September 2011 when I ran the  Philadelphia Rock ‘N Roll 1/2 Marathon shortly followed by the Marine Corps. Marathon in Washington, DC  {which was my third marathon! I’ve also run the New York Marathon & the Chicago Marathon – My FIRST Marathon} go

I’m excited to get back to training for something and have a little time to myself while running! I feel like I’ve been so bad lately at prioritizing fitness as something I need to make time for myself to do. It’s hard but worth it and I feel so good after getting a run in! March is a little ways away, but with the crazy heat this summer I’m hoping it will be a mild winter and will continue to be able to get those runs in on the weekend!

    If I’m running with my little guy in the stroller, definitely a 5k! I’m I’m doing a solo, race love a 10k…although I love training for something like you, and a half is always good too!

    I like the half marathon a lot, but the 10k is probably my favorite, since it feels like a solid, but manageable distance!

    13.1 is my favorite distance even though it’s challenging! I just completed the Rock and roll Philly and am looking into doing the Love half marathon before we leave the east coast!

    Running is Hard and is even harder just getting back in! Congrats on your huge goals. I have fallen in love with trail running… About an hour on the trails and I feel like a got a great work out in and some peace in nature too!

    I love 5Ks but want to work up to 10Ks and maybe another half some day. I did one pre-kids but haven’t done more than 4 miles since baby #2. I, too, need to sign up for a race to get that extra motivation.

    I love the 10k. It’s long enough you feel like you got some type of workout in but you aren’t going to be too sore afterwards.

    I like the basic army 2 miler. You can really test your speed when you only have to run 2 miles.
