On Starting the Tone It Up Bikini Series 2017 – Day 1

So I know I’ve been posting about it a TON on Instagram lately, so I figured it was worth filling you in on the blog as well!

I’ve decided to do the Tone It Up Bikini Series 2017!

What is that? Well, it’s a workout routine, nutrition plan, lifestyle jumpstart that I have been needing and craving for a while. My friend {Hi Kelly!} who talked me into doing my latest 3 day juice cleanse this past February is doing it and I figured – why not give it a try?

With Tone it Up I’m going to be doing their nutrition plan for the next 8 weeks!  Ah! Two months! It’s the longest time I’ve done any sort of ‘plan’ but I’m excited for the guidance and to check out all sorts of new recipes. I need a little inspiration in food making – and it may sound crazy, but I’m excited to not have to think about what I want to eat and what I want to make and just follow along with the meal plan. Sometimes not having to think about it at all and having it all planned out for you makes everything way easier, at least for me.

Some more of the Bikini Series guidelines include:

  • NO fried food
  • NO refined bread, pasta or rice
  • NO added sugar
  • NO candy
  • Limit starches after lunch
  • Aim to get at least 7.5 hours of sleep each night
  • Drink half your body weight in ounces each day

Nothing too crazy. I think its a good challenge for me personally and a great excuse to change things up! And while the guidelines are pretty much set, the Tone it Up plan gives you great options to make it work for your lifestyle – such as Wine Not Wednesday!

They give you the option to choose 3 nights or less each week to have 2 or fewer drinks! I love this option because 1) I love my wine and 2) It’s a fun social thing I enjoy with my friends – giving you the option to #treatyoself a few times a week is a nice way to work towards those splurges when you want. And I have a few trips, events and vacations happening over the next 2 months that I definitely want to enjoy! Cheers to that!

Aside from changing it up in the eating department I’m also going to be working out DAILY. Sometimes even twice!

WHAT?! Twice a day?!

I know! I didn’t think I would or even could be game for that myself, with staying home all day with the boys. But I took my new routine for a little test run last week for 5 days and I’m committing to getting up at 6am – working out and showering before anyone gets up – and the hubs will be my backup should I need any.

The truth is, I’ve loved getting back into running and working out. It feels amazing and I’m sore and it hurts to walk up the stairs, but it’s that great soreness you feel and you know you are getting back into something awesome.

Hurts so good!

And I have been loving getting up with the sun!

So the morning workout is called the “Booty Call” in Tone it Up world because their goal is to get you moving first thing in the morning {which helps kick your metabolism into gear}. The morning workout is aimed to get your heart rate up and stimulate fat burning -> all good things!

The Booty Call is 20 minutes of moving which can be combined with the daily moves – which is posted on the Tone it Up website and changes daily. They range from 20+ minute ab, kettlebell, HIIT workouts and even yoga sessions. It’s a little bit of everything and it changes every day which keeps me interested.

And of course if I do a longer run or take a spin/yoga/whatever class – that would substitute from the daily workout online.

So I’m officially started on Day 1 today and I’m really excited for this journey! I’m also pumped to share it with you and check in with my progress. And if anyone has done Tone it Up before or is doing it now – I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Happy Monday everyone!

I’ll definitely follow along with your journey! I definitely need all the motivation I can get. I just did a 6 week weight loss challenge at my local gym. I paid $25 into the pot and one male and female winner split the money. It goes by % of weight loss so I’m hoping I won! Money was definitely a good carrot for me. I lost 18 pounds over the 6 weeks so I’m hoping that’s enough to win the $1,250 pot!
