Our Zoo Trips Over the Years, World Penguin Day + a Philadelphia Zoo Family 4-Pack Giveaway

Living in the city of Philadelphia is such an amazing place to be with little kids. We have memberships all over the place and are always out and about exploring the city, but one of our favorite spots in the city is always the Zo0.

In fact, it’s our new little spot to hit up after Brooks is done with preschool during the week, just the two of us. Since he no longer naps, {insert sad face here} but Graham does, it’s the perfect place to hit up after a school day for a nice walk around the zoo.

Today Brooks + I braved the rain for a little fun.

A little rain doesn’t stop us from having fun at the zoo
Brooks and I were excited to visit the Penguins at the zoo today as it is World Penguin Day!

Fun Fact: April 25th is approximately when the penguins migrate north.

If you’ve been reading the blog for a while, you might know that I have had a long-running partnership with Stonyfield Organic. As I’ve been working with them for a while, I’ve come to learn so much about what Stonyfield Organic stands for – they are not just the country’s leading yogurt maker, but they also have a real focus on conservation and sustainability. Which brings us to World Penguin Day! Stonyfield YoKids is sponsoring the AZA {Association of Zoos and Aquariums} SAFE {Saving Animals from Extinction}program to help save endangered species. As part of a year-long effort, Stonyfield will not only be contributing funds to field work but aiming to drive kids and their animals to see animals and conservation projects first hand at zoos, aquariums, and on the ground where the research is happening. This sponsorship will support conservation efforts for 10 endangered species, including the African Penguin. And because World Penguin Day is April 25th, to commemorate it, Stonyfield and the AZA are hosting a Facebook Live for kids and their parents from the Mystic Aquarium in Mystic, CT – so they can get a firsthand look at these majestic seabirds, as well as the conservation work being done to save them. Tune in to the Facebook Live broadcast at the Stonyfield Facebook page!

In the mean time, check out the Stonyfield website, where they’ve posted some cute activities for kids for World Penguin Day – check out these funny videos of kids answering the question, “Can a cow save a penguin?” –  Stonyfield is also offering free kids’ tickets to AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums, so be sure to check that out too!

Since writing this post I was reminiscing about all out trips to the Philadelphia Zoo over the past 3+ years with Brooks and Graham. We’ve had so much fun and have got to see so many amazing things. Thanks to Google Photos I was able to easily see all our zoo pictures lined up and I just had to share them with you today! Some pictures even I have a hard time telling who is Brooks and who is Graham – ha!

Check them out and let me know what you think!

Early this spring we got to see a chicken hatch and on the same day we also got to see a mama gorilla nursing her new baby! Really cool!

8 months pregnant with Graham at the zoo

Brooks, rocking out to a concert on the zoo lawn.

And here’s me nursing baby Graham on the go while Brooks enjoyed a zoo day!

Such amazing memories at the zoo, I love being able to look back at these fun, special times with the littles!

So many amazing memories – I can’t wait to make more this season!

Oh – and before I forget. We brought one of our favorite snacks with us to the zoo today. Brooks and Graham are BIG FANS of the new YoKids yogurt squeezers. Its the perfect little on the go snack for the littles!
